This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Only male maids
For some reason I can only hire male maids. I don't even remember the last time a female maid showed up in the prompt box. I've tried firing and re-hiring but it's always the same thing! D: Does anybody know how to fix this?

I remember to me happened the same. Only males maid untill I move to another house. There, finally the maid was the famous Kaylynn Langerak!

I remember the only male maids too. It's been a very long time since hiring a maid, I'm not sure what I would get now. I don't hire any service npcs anymore.

While the maid is on the lot you need to "end service" then call for new maid and you should get a new female maid.
Normally there is 3 maids, 2 female and 1 male.

Try this, Squinge's Selectable NPC http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...c,102035.0.html

Do you have the antiredundancy hack from MATY? If so (and it's widely used) you'll only get one maid per 'hood (unless the hack treats maids differently from all other NPCs). You'd need to use the method described by marka93 to force the game to generate a second maid. I'll get a Sim in my test 'hood to order a maid, and see what the game generates. It's probably weighted 2:1 in favour of females as mark says.

I do have the antiredundancy hack, and in two 'hoods running the only repair"man" is a woman!

[EDIT] I wrote this before I saw Jo's post.

I've had that for ages and it works a treat even with the anti mods. I wanted a particular gardener to show up and that allows you to hand pick who shows up.

I tried ordering a maid in my test 'hood with antiredundancy in place, and as I expected, the game only generated one maid (who was female).

Does that Squinge mod force the game to generate extra NPCs (if there are less than 3) so that you've got some to choose from?

I tried using Squinge's mod along with antiredundancy to choose a new Butler because I wanted each household with butlers to have their own. But the game had only generated one. I had to spawn a new one with boolprop.

Each sims 2 map has section and if your sim lives in one section that has the male maid tag then that is what you get, but like I said in post # 4 "while the maid is on the lot" you need to end service and call for a new maid and you should get a female maid.

It does not relate to your sims gender it is a preset map section. If you have a female maid and you end service while the maid is on the lot and you hire new maid it should be male that shows up.
At least this is how its been in my game.

If you have the antiredundancy hack and before you make a new hood I would get the "Female Maids" mod if that is what you want. http://cyjon.net/node/112

First of all I want to thank everyone who responded. I didn't expect so many people to answer my question! I tried ending the services on my lots but I still only got male maids (I tried it a couple of times). When that didn't seem to work I downloaded the mod and I saw why I was only getting men. There were three males to one female! I think that if I had fired that third maid and hired a new one they would have been female, but I guess I was a little impatient XD. I think I'll continue to use the mod. Thanks again everyone!
