More sports things, like the basketball hoop, soccer goal, and bowling ally, where two (or more) sims can play together.

More musical things, currently supported, or at least labeled updated through M&G clearly. Preferably a string quartet that can play, y'know, string quartet stuff. Maybe some Mozart, some Glass . . .

Cooking lessons for kids, where the parent and child work together in the kitchen to make a meal. A string on the fridge like "Teach child to make--food options" and then the child goes to the fridge and gets out the stuff, and puts it on the counter, and steps back, and the parent steps up and does any chopping animation, then steps back and the kid steps up and stirs (could borrow the kids' stove animation with the sticking the finger in) and the parent takes the stuff to the stove and does all the hot stuff, and they both gain cooking points by doing it. That would be . . . well, leaving out dropped eggs on the kitchen floor, very realistic and really cool. And it should make the counter used go to the completely dirty recolor each time.

Something fun for charisma for older than toddlers. Maybe just a mod of the poker table?

There's some decorative stuff here, unfortunately there isn't much and I don't think they build enthusiasm. (I haven't made a gym with them yet to test.)

I like to have my Sims do crosswords in the newspaper, but they're so short. I was thinking of a crossword book, perhaps a clone of the newspaper itself to be able to use the same animations. Sims can do puzzles to increase logic.

For everybody wanting playable toddler toys that also increase hobby enthusiasm, beinchan has some over at her site under "sets," with several toddler toys with new meshes and hobby enthusiasm (though I think most of them are cloned from existing toys, so the animations will probably be similar to existing toddler toys, but it's still something). I haven't tested them to see how well they work myself, though.

Well, you can sit on the large fitness ball, but that's all you can do. I do like it in my game, though.

Bienchen's site looks fascinating. I love the recolors for the infant blanket!

If I recall, FeeEssen has some items as well, also cloned from kids' toys.

http://feeessen-sims-objekte.de/

(DISCLAIMER (mostly for newer players): I don't know what works, what does not, if anything has custom NPCs, what has invisible gremlins attached, etc. I've downloaded several items from this site, but certainly not all. Always back up your game if you're not sure! That pony, for instance, very likely has a custom NPC. That tricycle might as well, if the toddler can ride this without assistance.

Custom NPCs are fine and dandy if you want them in your game and have tested them after you back up your game first, in case you change your mind. But for any newer players out there, know what you're downloading and always back up if you're not 100% sure.

End of lecture. )

There are other really adorable toys cloned from toddler toys as well.

EDIT: Found the Clue game! Thank you, anouck238, wherever you are. Anouck238 mentioned this back in 2009 in a post on this site.

It's on the Mangosims site, under the Tom bedroom. You might have to squint at the picture, but it's there! (Look for "cluedo" in the files):

Monopoly game found, Clue game found. Still not sure where the Trivial Pursuit game is located, but two out of three (well four, if you count that shogi game) isn't bad!

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

As a rule of thumb, if an object moves "smoothly" by itself (instead of just teleporting from one tile to the other like the maxis roaches do), you can assume that it contains an NPC.

If I recall correctly, Javiera also had custom skill building toys for toddlers on their journal.

They can also be on a single square but they will move on that square. Eg Echo's clowns, the gypsy on here and Beks? fairy.

In those objects, the NPC can be recognized by its 'nature' as a sim. If it animates as such, it is more likely an NPC. This does not mean that every 'animated' object will contain an NPC: for example, NixedSims' orrery* moves through the action of a simple object animation. (The same kind used by Maxis' ceiling fans, appliances, dressers, etc.) When it doubt, it is of course better to ask the creator, or at least get someone who knows about modded objects to look into it.
(Apologize if I come off as rambling about this, but it seems helpful to me for people to be informed about these various types of objects.)

*: which builds science enthusiasm when looked at, pretty cool.

Speaking of Rebecah, I've discovered while looking for the fairy that she has shared a 'skill learning game table '. It seems like a very powerful, if gamy, object.

Yes exactly, it's 'alive'. Not all NPC's are living things though, eg bumper cars, tricycle. I mentioned the one square ones as some people have troubles identifying what downloads may potentially have an NPC controlling them. It's always best to check the file for a name, an NPC or a controller and ask the creator if you are not sure.

The table is great, I use it in my medieval hood. Could use a re-texture. It also advertises very highly. I was just yesterday with Gummi's help making advertise more like chess so sims don't obsess over it. I think it could also do with having a slower skilling option-if you wanted to look at it.

I use a lot of bienchen83 toys. Some from here and some from her site. http://bienchen83.bplaced.net/Bienc...ch/index_e.html Admittedly it takes quite a bit of digging through the site to find them. A few are on this page http://bienchen83.bplaced.net/Bienc...n/m_set12_e.htm

I really miss the TS1 Soliloquy option for Charisma using Shakespeare's bust. It was a bit more elegant than chatting up yourself in a mirror.

Is the rollercoaster object (on the 3rd page) a useable object? Reminds me of those loopy wire toys that you used to see at the doctors waiting room as a kid. The ones that buzzed if you touched them.

It's only deco, but it would look good in a doctors waiting room. (page 1 is creativity, page 2 is playable like a doll and page 3 is deco)

Whenever I see threads like this my mind instantly travels to TS1 days and what didn't make it over to TS2. As others have said, I too would love a chemistry set but what I really want? A dueling arena for witches. Players of Makin' Magic will remember this one. Witches would step up to the arena and battle other witches by choosing from a set of spells (three I believe). It's probably not possible but I'd love something similar to this for TS2 where witches could practice dueling or have good vs. evil magic battles.

For charisma, someone made a hack that changes the karaoke machine skilling from creativity to charisma:
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=476556

And here's a smaller karaoke machine. It's not affected by the above hack and still builds creativity, but it's good if you don't have room for that giant thing:
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=489717

EDIT: Wait, Justpetro posted the charisma hack. Ack!
