Default Dragon Age Inquisition
Who is playing this? I really want it but I'm not sure if Downloading or disk is the way to go. From what i have seen the disk is going to cost us $20 more although that is what my hubby thinks we should get. If we get the disk will he be able to install it on his laptop as well? He ended up buying a Skyrim disk after my download would only work on my pc.

What do you all think of it? I'm loving some of the play through that I'm seeing although I'd like to see more fun ones by female let's Players.

I have it and have found it a hell of a lot of fun so far. I got the disk. At the moment, that's the way I want to buy games. I don't trust game companies to keep up to date infallible records of my game purchases (based on at least two experiences of them losing information - admittedly in the past and things undoubtedly are getting better but still, once bitten y'know). I haven't got too far into the game yet (that's what the recent rebuild was about) but it looks fab and I like everything so far. I'm liking the multiplayer too. I'm part of a minority on that as many RPG gamers don't want multiplayer but I played ME3 multiplayer to death and this MP is good - not quite as varied as ME but with some better features, especially with connectivity. Bioware have obviously learned.

Edit: attached some pics so you can see the quality of the character model (v. nice) and some scenery (lovely). I don't think I quite have my graphics card sorted (settings) but it still looks pretty nice.

It's okay ... the storyline missions are pretty good, but when you get to the open world areas, it feels like a clumsier WoW. Hostiles tend to spawn almost right in front of you when you are walking around, especially if you use your mount. If you use the tactical mode a lot, it's not too bad - just don't expect areas where you killed some random spawns to stay clear for long. There are also invisible walls on some terrain where you wouldn't expect them to be - if you see a location you want to get to, it's not the kind of open world where you can jump up footholds on mountainsides to get there. 9/10 you have to follow a prescribed path, just like the first two games.

The characters and conversations are the best parts about it, enough that it's worth using Dragon Age Keep to recreate your playthroughs from Origins and DAII if you played either of them. The default world state is alright, but it's better when you have your own.

Inquisition is good, but don't fall for all of the spin out there - it has its faults.

DH says' our local EB Games shop has it, so yah! I haven't played the other Dragon Age games, but I did go to Dragon Age Keep and set down what I wanted had I played it. I'm not that interested in the previous games. Origins looked okay while Two just looked like a poor cousin to me.

Your game looks great maxon!

I'm not much of a shoot em up type player I'm in it more for exploring and the story elements so I'll probably just play on easy. I noticed those walls on a couple of Let's Play's I've watched, and a few bugs.

I've been playing for over 200 hours now some areas are really huge and I'm just enjoying myself and exploring also I really think I'm a glutton for pain as I'm doing a play through on Nightmare Difficulty. I have to say that Dragon Fights are really fun at that difficulty as well I went with the Standard Digital Version I was kicking myself though at first as Amazon only had Standard Edition for the Download, but it is all good as bioware just released an upgrade to digital deluxe for 10.00 so at least I can upgrade to DD.

If your playing on a computer and using a keyboard and mouse, your in for a treat!..lol The game got great reviews from the console players, but PC players is another matter. Just go to the Bioware forms for DAI and check the support section. If you have a computer, you may want to wait until they have the mess that is the PC version fixed (if it's possible) and maybe by then it will be on sale. Great story and scenery, but the constant crashing during cut-scenes, the clunky UI, broken tactical cam, and lack of tactics like we had in DAO and DAII, make the game unplayable for me. I have given up on it until it's fixed.

Note: Multiplayer is pretty bad as well. They just released a DLC pack for multiplayer for free that pretty much broke Multiplayer. You can remove it and restore MP to what it was, but it will corrupt your single player save.

@ mmoblitz

Yea, I saw the PC Community Concerns thread on the official forums. Wow, its... big.
I bought a game after some very favourable reviews, and I have to say that since then (1 month ago) I haven't really play the game. The lack of basic function such as walking (with M+K setup) is just...

I can live with crap TacCam, clunky controls, unbindable mouse buttons, frame-rate lock in cutscenes, stuttering, etc. Yea, I can put up with a lot of crap to "enjoy" a good game. Hey, I played Morrowind with 9 fps and CTD every 10-15 minutes. I'm that hardcore.

I did give the game a go, I have around 2-3 hours, but the lack of walking just kills it for me. Not being able to walk in an RPG is... well, see picture above.
I don't touch MP, not my thing.

Because of the above, I can't say if the game is good or not, I haven't "really" played it yet. I have however doubts about the quality of the story, DA:O was IMO poor in that regards, and BW also committed Mass Effect, also known as Cliche-Filled-Space-Opera-Game-About-Shooting-Things-With-A-Gun-And-Magic-Powers-And-Having-Sex-With-A-Blue-Chick-With-Squinty-Eyes.

I really like Mass Effect.

It's funny how experiences vary isn't it? I'm not finding the controls a bother at all, expect that I'd prefer to move the camera ME3 style by just pointing the mouse. <shrug>

Yea it is I have to say that my experience hasn't been bad at all. The PC controls aren't bothersome to me haven't even experiencing any ctds or anything debilitating I know they are working on more patches which can be read @ http://blog.bioware.com/2014/12/08/...for-dragon-age/ and this topic http://forum.bioware.com/topic/5216...unity-concerns/

Hi,

I would like to start by saying: "Shame on you EAWare! Shame I say!" It's over a month since "release" (it's more like early access, or paid beta if you ask me) and no sight of walk option for M+K. The shame is greater since some random guy made a "walk toggle" and "push to walk" using CheatEngine (http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewto...d4e975ba7c5e9ff). BioFail.

Now though, with the ability to walk, I can actually play the game. I'm very early in, some 3-4 hours, I'm in the Hinterlands area where I've done some quests like:
Kill some Templars to talk to a lady.
Kill some Templars to get a ring.
Kill some sheep to get fur.
Kill some demons to close a rift.
Kill some bandits to... Kill some more bandits.

Well... You can see what's going on here. To be fair, I read that this area is kind of boring, filled with mmo style quests. I heared that later it gets better. So far... I don't have enough experiance with the game to make up my mind whether the game is good or not, further testing is required. However I want to do further testing and that's a good sign.

EDIT: When I get back home, I'll upload some shots of my nice character

Quests in the open-world areas generally don't deviate from the 'kill hostiles' type. Even ones that just want you to go collect or find something typically have you wade through a camp of bandits, outlaws, templars and/or hostile wildlife to get there. However, the combat is less of a slog once you start levelling and getting more abilities, since you can cross-class combo enemies much easier when everyone in the party has a detonator ability and another that sets a combo up.

Without saying too much, you're still kind of limited in what's available to you until after you complete "In Your Heart Shall Burn". After that, the game opens up somewhat more. Don't rush ahead too fast though, as this is a Bioware game and hence, you often need to talk to all your companions (as well as your advisors) after any major plot point is advanced if you want to see all their possible dialogue. That also tends to open up more missions for the war table, so it's worthwhile even if you have no real interest in a character.

The romances are still awkward in the way they've always been - characters can batter someone with a mace, draw a bow or expell thunderbolts from their chest cavity smoothly enough to be convincing, but God help them if the situation calls for an embrace or a kiss. The way some romances develop might make you smile though, if only because you may see a very different side to someone. Cassandra's was a lot of fun in that respect.

(from the cutscene in Cassandra's romance, forgive the roughness - the 360 isn't as pretty and I took it with my phone)

OK, as promised earlier, here are some quick pics that I made today. They are a bit 'meh', I'm still learning cinematic tools. Everything looks a bit dark, maybe I messed up some settings, I will look into that.

Nice pics - if we're sharing screenies. Here are some more.

I've got a fair way on now in the first part and just won the mages to our side. We've been to the Storm Coast and also the Fallow Mire and just last night did Redcliffe Castle. The Storm Coast and Fallow Mire were suitably atmospheric and I loved the sea (hence my inquisitor taking a dip). I also love the horses - this is my second one but I actually prefer the first one, a bay. Finally, running through Redcliffe Castle we found these two sitting in a lover's nook. I think they'd been there some time. Dorian is now at my side. Just Cole to find.

Well I got the game and found I couldn't play it, it wants a quad core which my old girl doesn't have. it pretty much freezes every 5 seconds and crashes randomly. So it will be going on the shelf until I can get a major upgrade/a new computer. :/

Ah, that sux... I know a pain of buying a game that won't work, been there done that.

Aaaaaanyway... I did figure out what was causing dark images, it was the Cinematic Tools acting up, but on restart it worked fine, here are some new pics from Hinterlands (yea, I'm still there doing the "kill stuff for stuff" quests. Yawn):

My own fault, I should have checked first. I assumed since it plays Skyrim on medium settings that it would be okay.

Nice pics. I'm addicted to a couple of let's plays so they will have to do until we can save up enough for a new computer. I'm not technical at all but dh seems to think that quad core means new mother board means new computer. I think the prospect of saving everything, installing and moving everything is more daunting than saving up for it.

I just replaced my MOBO and core. It actually went well though I'm loathe to recommend anything right now. I cannibalised the drives and power supply from the old computer and the video card which was fairly new anyway. Bought a new bigger main drive (1TB) and new memory (old ones didn't fit) and new box (huge). Still quite a lot of money but nowhere near as expensive as a whole new system. I will, down the line, buy some more memory and a new video card eventually (this one is pretty good - it was good for the old computer but only moderate for this one. Still, I'm not complaining, it still looks well and TS2 looks better than ever - and now loads in under 2 minutes).

My little mage is just off to the desert bit, I think. Or she might pursue the next main quest. Not sure. I'm still selling picked up stuff at the main camp store and modifying armour. Plus yesterday was mostly spent playing multiplayer (between cooking and consuming Christmas dinner - well, after actually, since we went over to see Him Indoor's mother for the day).

I just finished with DA:I and now feel so emty.
Despite some glitches and bugs (and this belongs to EA) this game is amazing. I spent the best 100+ gaming hours with this game and I want MORE!!! I love everything on it: graphics, characters, storyline and etc....
The ending gives me hope that story will be continued.

I jumped right in and didn't set up anything in The Keep. Wish that I had, but too late now and I'm not restarting. Got my Inquisitor looking halfway decent and wouldn't know how to recreate her from scratch anyway. Sure wish there was a game editor though.

I'm totally addicted. Already put 100-hours into it in the past 2-weeks and still have many more areas to explore and main story left. In contrast, I played DA2 to 100% completion and every single DLC in under 65hrs.

I'm just playing on Normal and finding the dragon battles are brutal, especially the ones that regenerate shields and spawn babies. Still haven't found a way to beat those yet, guess I just suck.

It works really well with Xbox 360 controller or Xbox One controller. I use the 360 controller wirelessly till my batteries die, then I switch to the One controller because it's currently corded-only on PC. The One controller has a much better feel and less fatiguing. I definitely play DA:I differently than previous games. I play it more like a 3rd person shooter and let the AI take care of my followers. Just never really got the hang of the tactics mode and find it rather clunky, so I don't really switch around or plan battle strategies like I did on previous DA games. Maybe that's why I have such a hard time with dragons.

The intro story isn't as deep or moving as I thought the DA:O city elf origin was, so I'm not as emotionally attached to my Inquisitor as I was to my Hero of Ferelden. However, the graphics are gorgeous and the game is a lot of fun. I'll be sad when my game ends. I don't think I can go back to TS4 after this.

I saw an video on youtube about this game. It looks like it have a lot of dialogues, just like Mass Effect. I don't like when a game have a lot of conversation, however, the graphics are really cool and the medieval mythological thing attract me... Maybe I'll buy it.

Can someone tell me if this Dragon Age is an open world just like Skyrim or is a linear story?

It's semi-open I think would be the fairest description. You can do things in a variety of ways at your own pace but there is an underlying story. It's a Bioware RPG not Bethesda. If you don't like dialogue, maybe RPGs aren't for you.

Hmm, thanks for your answer. Well, I will watch some more videos before buying, because the price is very high for games here... Actually, I love RPG in almost all aspects. I kinda appreciate the conversation thing, but no when it is too long. I mean, skyrim dialogues are ok but Mass Effect is too much for me...

The dialog is why I want to play it, I love how what you choose forms your character and how that and decisions you make changes certain things.

I'd love to upgrade now, but school expenses for the kids and the plumbing have to come first.
