This isn't a Sims 2 thing itself, but if you're on an machine that's prone to overheat, take a look at Core Temp. It'll sit in your system tray and display the temperature of your CPU.
(Quick warning, in the installer version there's an offer for a third-party software. As long as you don't click right through you'll see it. Or click on More Downloads and get the standalone version, which doesn't require installation.)

Oh my ... god.

I resisted the animals. I resisted the business easel, even.

But I just downloaded 81MB of trees. I have to stop coming here.

PBK is wonderful, isn't it? I've been improvising with hiding a nearly-invisible TV for a while, and now someone finally made a real one! And the business easel...maybe Darren Dreamer can actually get rich!

I haven't played the Dreamers much, but I seem to recall him doing okay free-styling for tips.

If anyone remembers this, that mod I asked Whoward to create is done!

Duvet Days

Description:
"This mod gives the player greater control over the work-play balance for their Sims, by enabling the player to decide in advance of the car pool arriving if the Sim is going to take paid/unpaid leave or "fake a sickie"."

Enjoy!

That's always been Dirk's job in my game. Darren is an artist.

This is the best! I love this idea so much. (Is it remarkable that I love all mods to do with careers and food?)
Now I'm going to ask him for a mod that changes the workdays to 7 days for all careers at once (otherwise I need to alter hundreds of careerpackages).

Today I was wondering how powerlines would look in the game and if anyone had made them. Turns out Criquette had! :-D I feel like they might be one of those small details that make things extra cool.

It has to be something else, Jo. I have not updated Windows on my simming desktop since April 2016 (got tired of Microsoft pushing/adding Win 10 updates/the free upgrade in with the Win 7 ones), and can visit Sims2Artists just fine.

Chrome is my preferred browser of choice for every platform.

Same here Penelope, I like windows 7 just fine. I used Firefox. I tried the site on Explorer the other day, that didn't work either. I could try chrome.

The free upgrade period is over - so they won't nag you about it anymore, I believe. There's a couple of tools to disable the nags anyways, I don't recall the name but I'll see if I can find it again.

You actually should get updates--at least the security ones--because it patches an exploit that lets a nasty bit of ransomware in.

EDIT: GWX Control Panel. You don't need it anymore, but I don't like to leave loose ends dangling if I can avoid it.
