WCIF - stay at home mom running daycare career
Has anyone already created a well-written career like this? I've got a request for one and just want to see if there's one already done.

I seem to recall a mention of a daycare center on community lot. not sure where or when or who.

I think I've seen a few. I've even made one, but I'm wondering if there's a career. Before I write one.

Doesn't look the same to me..parent still has to "go to work", even though it's just for an hour. Don't know how a sim could start a home business where other kids would show up. Would be cool if playable sims WHO WORKED would drop their babies/toddlers off. Know their are mods to create schools ..would that be similar?
Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

I think that is what people do. I use a meeting controller, but this is just a request for a career that someone asked me to write, so I'm checking if it's already done.

EDIT: This is to make a community lot into a daycare center. I don't think this will allow a playable sim to run a daycare center in their own house. I'll leave this here anyway in case someone is looking for something like this.
Chris Hatch made a mod that sounds like what you're looking for. I don't use this one myself, so I can't advise you on setting it up and running it.
This requires Chris Hatch's Globe mod. This is NOT compatible with his playgroup phone call mod because the child care center already contains the code for that feature.
Child Care Centre readme
Bon Voyage EP minimum required (Not for T&A or A&N)
Requires the Globe Sculpture and global overrides. This adds a line of code into the Globe so it ‘knows’ that Childcare is installed and can convert a community lot into a Childcare Centre.
If you have the "Playgroup phone call" installed then you must remove it (CJH_PlayGroupPhoneCall.package), the phone call and all other parts are included in this. The phone call and van an essential part of this. The Phone Call mod will remain where and as it is because it will have a lot less compatibility issues than this.
You can build a Childcare Centre and take toddlers there and pick them up later by your sim's own car, 'ownable car' is the only way to visit the lot. To drive toddlers to childcare first you need to build a childcare centre, build it as a regular community lot, then place the Globe Sculpture anywhere which will convert the lot into a childcare centre. Childcare centre’s main feature is that it does not remove visitors each time it loads except in buy/build mode so that your toddlers will still be there when you pick them up.
When you choose to go to a childcare centre the car will first try to find a local childcare centre, one in the same sub-neighbourhood that your sim lives in or use the first one it finds if there is none locally. That gives you the choice of having a central childcare centre or individual centres for each sub-neighbourhood. Like hospitals the game doesn’t recognise the lot zoning correctly and would allow moving a family in, don’t ever do that.
When you arrive at childcare with a toddler(s) they are 'dropped off' once you put them inside a building, we can't just drive off leaving them on the footpath. There will always be a nanny and a school teacher at the centre to care for them. There is no cleaning or gardening service scheduled because there's no predictable hours that the lot will run. Progress on the lot does get saved so things may need tidying up a bit now and then, that's up to the mums and dads to do on a voluntary basis.
Toddlers remain on the lot to be picked up, that means you can send toddlers there from several families at once. I have added child animations for toddlers the default ownable cars which are a lot better than adult animations which is what most custom cars will use. Once toddlers are 'dropped off' the option to go somewhere else becomes available on the car so you can drop them off on the way to somewhere else. Your sim must return home before picking them up however, they can't be picked up on the way home. Once at home you can use the phone service at any time to return toddlers that have been driven to childcare.
This also overrides the pie menu of the activity table, by default visitors couldn’t use the activity table and toddlers change into visitors once they are dropped off at Childcare. I also added the ability for parents to send a picture drawn by a toddler from the activity table to their own mum if she’s alive and lives in another lot, the scribble painting will be placed into her inventory.
At Childcare
At home whenever toddlers are at playgroup they are interacting with a toddler/baby job data, after three hours a 'chance card' will run and the toddler will meet another toddler from one of your homes if there are any that she/he hasn't met yet. The toddler will also gain a random skill point at this time, if there are no other toddlers that your child hasn't met yet then just the skill gain will be given. Unlike normal jobs there is no set start or home time, the 'job data' regularly checks for errors and is on an 18hr timer. If it detects an error or the timer runs out then it will check for an available sim, teen or older who can care for the toddler(s) and wait until there is one, then use the playgroup van to return the toddler(s) immediately. The van runs a range of checks for errors before returning toddlers, if it finds any inconsistencies it will just run a behave to pull all off world babies or toddlers back in world, correcting any hidden flags, alpha etc. then delete the baby/toddler job data then self delete. If anything seems amiss just use the playgroup phone service and the van should take care of it.
The Phone Call
This includes the Playgroup phone service available to families with toddlers. The phone service is available 24hrs per day regardless of which expansions you have installed. When you use the phone service a Playgroup van is dispatched immediately, if your toddlers are already at playgroup then it will return them, otherwise it'll come and pick them up.
When the van first arrives it'll use the same code as the social worker van uses to get all awake toddlers into the van, if the kiddie can't get to the van then she/he is teleported to the van. The toddlers then go off to childcare exactly the same as when sims go to work or school.
When the van returns it just drops the toddlers off by the side of the road so I've made it 'grab' the camera to make you aware that the kiddies are there and need bringing inside.
The Globe mod (necessary to run Child Care Centre and several of Chris Hatch's other mods). There should be instructions files in this folder too:
https://simfileshare.net/folder/22091/
Child Care Centre mod
https://simfileshare.net/folder/22488/
I've also attached a zip file of an HTML file and screenshots that were provided by Chris Hatch somewhere. This is a description of the globe and its add-on features with screenshots. I haven't tried the included Box links, so I don't know whether or not they work.

@Sunrader I don't think anyone ever has. It is possible to make a career that sims don't leave the lot for, the business owner career does that. However they also don't get any money, so leaving the lot is probably needed if the sim is to earn any money.
You guys ^ she doesn't want a daycare centre, she wants to make a career.

It is possible to make a career where sims get paid and promoted etc. without leaving home. A&N has a live-in-servant career for live in servant NPCs, their work is at home, they get paid everyday and promoted according to their skills (cleaning, cooking etc). I could package it up as a starting point for anyone who wants to convert it.

Please do, thank you! It could give us lots more options for custom careers.

Will work as is (has registered GUID) but I don't see much need for a live in servant career without live in servants. You'll need to change the text in the 'Job Descriptions' text, the icons and the catalogue description to make it be what you want.
As is the sim works from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Saturday, it parses the career between 11:00 and 12:00 every morning and, if it is a work day it pays the sim and promotes the sim if the sim qualifies for promotion.
There is a popup dialogue if the sim gets promoted but that can be switched off via a (labelled) constant if it's irrelevant, for example a stay at home mum may have the same job title for every level so a popup informing that she's been promoted to a stay at home mum is pointless. The constant is the first one in 'Skill Req - Gardening' table because sims don't have gardening skill so those are never used for anything else.
Although the sim never goes to work so carpool and outfit GUIDS don't get used by the career I have made them use legitimate values in case any mods try to read them (the maid outfit is used for the career outfit). Job performance and accrued holidays are irrelevant, the sim can't possibly stay home from work or be late for work when home is work.
I have only tested it with all EPs, it uses a lua script from OFB so it'll definitely not work below OFB.
