Default Cities: Skylines
Could be the City builder we were hoping for? I certainly hope so!
I truly like the games that Paradox Interactive are involved with, particularly Cities in Motion and Cities in Motion 2.

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order invite players to create the cities of their dreams in Cities: Skylines, a massive city simulator from the creators of the Cities in Motion series.

Vast backdrops and maps provide players with countless ways to improve and expand their cities, building from humble beginnings up to beautiful, cloud-hugging structures and unique architectural marvels.

That looks really awesome! And it looks like it will support mods, too.

I haven't played any city builder games before, so my opinion isn't very sophisticated, but I think it was a good trailer, since it made me want to try it out. What would you most be hoping for from this game, @SimJymm?

What I hope most for the game is that the traffic/citizens/trade moves as smoothly in a very large city as it does in the cities in Cities in Motion 2. SimCity traffic was a mess!

I am pretty excited about this; for me it was the big news of the recent Gamescon.

ETA: The forum for Cities: Skylines at the Paradox forums is here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...Cities-Skylines . Producers giving feedback and taking suggestions. (Developer Diaries will probably be coming closer to release date.) EA would die of shock!

Well, it looks like it has potential. I'd need to see more of the features first. I'd like a better city builder than you know what.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

It certainly looks promising! It seems to be based off Cities in Motion 2 with city builder elements added.

I like the fact that we can use the game's map editor to make our own terrain to build on!

I have been following the game's own forums and it seems they are not planning a day/night cycle. I am currently attempting to find out what they're going to do about things like office and school hours, and sports events at their venues - whether the schools will simply have coming and going all day or whether there will be a clock, it just won't get dark at night.

Wow, they are doing the left/right traffic thing; I was wondering about that.

ETA: A good developer diary, and more to come, I see. (About one every 2 weeks, I think.)

Did anyone see their twitch session? I missed it due to miscalculating CEST. I know its on Youtube now but I like to be able to yell inane rubbish into the chat window when it is live.

I had to go to work so I only caught a bit of it live, not a lot "yelling".
I did watch the video recording on Twitch later on though. I like near the end when they talked about eventually adding weather, only when it has actual gameplay effect. So we may see it as an expansion or DLC.
BUT alas no mention of Day/Night cycles.

I am very curious how this game will turn out. I was not really a fan of the latest Sim City. Garbage trucks conga lines, entertaining but not why I wanted to play Sim City :p

I missed the Twitch session (I do well to know what time it is here in ET, let alone what it is in CET) - but I caught the videos of the session on Paradox's forums: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...-Stream-Archive . Very interesting. I wonder how far off Beta is?

Oh nice, it seems they let you plan zone density.
I didn't like how in the last simcity zone density was determined by road type. If you wanted to deal with traffic congestion by upgrading roads, the zones attached to the road would become higher density too. That just makes no sense imo.

True, after "fixing" traffic it soon became even worse when larger residences, stores and work places started popping up! Zone density should be a players choice.

This is really cool! I watched all the streams after they were recorded (sometimes on YouTube, sometimes on Twitch). I thought it was funny when the shipping ship sailed over the hydroelectric dam. I also love the humor of the developers! I just signed up to save the Japanese Garden lot and I had to create a paradox account for that. I hope I can get the whole thing, cherry blossoms and all. I also hope that in the future, the developers will allow for zones that go deeper from the roads (maybe 6 tiles instead of just 4) to accommodate farms, larger factories, larger skyscrapers, malls with more parking, and possibly housing developments (such as trailer parks).
