Was anyone not convinced at all when the presenter said he was going to announce this EP despite his producers telling him not to?

"My producers aren't very happy with me right now..."

Uh-huh.

If that was the case, he would have gotten fired mid broadcast. They can save the bad acting - no one's buying it.

If this EP was the whole of The Sims 2 translated for Sims 3 with some time travel elements added, I would laugh and then buy the crap out of this EP.

I mean... baby legs, more harvestables, security robots, nannies, kids playing instruments, more interactions, plantsims, Big Foot, ninjas, Santa Claus, the Social Bunny, bug infestations, colds and sickness, better family meals, open restaurants, no more rabbitholes, gypsy matchmaker, animal control, run away pets, run away teens, landlords, real apartments, hotels, bellhops, wolves, skunks, spectral animals, and so, so, so much more.

I would seriously buy an EP that gave me all the gameplay missing in the translation from Sims 2 to Sims 3 and I'd do it at the drop of a hat.

Would that mean a Sims 3 version of Pleasantview, Strangetown, and the others? Or Old Town where the Goth's are from? Personally, I've always wanted to know more about the aliens like the PT9 and his cohorts.

This will certainly be an interesting EP - but good gosh, I'm going to have to save a LOT of money for this stuff, and the EP/SPs I haven't even gotten to yet. Here's to working overtime!

Uh yet another thread turning into "Uh Sims 3 Sux so much compared to awesome Sims 2".

More harvestables? Are you kidding me? We now have so many that I resigned to not have everything in my gardens! Plus most of Sims2 harvestables were CC and were anyway useless since they transformed into generic-nothing-food! Ohai, I cooked you shrimps with the tomatos I harvested! How unusual and cool! Bleh.
Better family meals... That lasted HOURS. So much that I dreaded having 2 sims eating in the same room! Even mods were unable to cut that time off decently and it was still a nightmare even when using a mod. Oh, how many sims ending up sleeping in their stupid dishes because of that awesome "feature"! How coooool.
Bug infestations. My favorite. An elder sim would cry because of bugs he sprayed when he was a teen. So logical. One of my most hated "feature".
Security robots that broke 12 times a day and so were totally useless. Ooh yeah, I miss that... Or not.
Gypsy matchmaker? An old hag that always gave you a fugly townie... And you miss that? Are you on drug?

I give up. lol

I'm only in it for the impending TARDIS mods. My time lord legacy, like I said in another thread, would adore this. Traveller supplements it so far . . . but I want precoded 'hoods, yeah? Like, they ACT like they're from the future.

So I'm guessing story progression will start becoming more important to the game?
What if you go back into the pass when your great grandpa was a YA and about to choose which part of the Police career he was going to go into. The Super spy is what led to your families riches, 7 uncles, player dad, etc., and the forensic side led to him quitting and half of your family moving out of town and you living in a crummy apart in the future!
It'd be cool if you went back and persuaded him to do something else, or marry a different woman!

Your sim would come back and have 3 days to go back in time and fix everything, or he would change into his "new form"
The world would change along with his traits, looks, amount of money, relationships, everything!

Never did I once say that Sims 3 sucks compared to Sims 2. I like Sims 3. I also liked the gameplay from Sims 2. Is that so wrong? Is it wrong to like certain aspects of a previous generation game and wish that some of those features would be incorporated into the next game?

I love harvestables and I love gardening. I also love collecting seeds and cooking recipes. We obviously play our games differently. So there's probably no point in explaining why I feel strawberries and oranges would be nice to have in Sims 3. I had no idea that there were CC harvestables for Sims 2 so you lost me on that rant.

I thought bug infestations were a nice touch and went nicely with this thing called real life. I mean, what do you get for dirty dishes now? A moodlet? Big deal. I want roaches, exterminators, and sims getting sick from the nastiness. I want my sims to be consumed by a swarm of hungry flies. The infestations were realistic and the death caused by sickness and flies were great.

My security robots were awesome. I have no idea what was wrong with yours. My robots hardly ever broke down.

If a player takes good care of their sims, they wouldn't be exhausted and sleeping in their food. In my case, it happened rarely so any time it did, it was hilarious. I just woke them up and sent them to bed.

And the gypsy matchmaker was awesome. She was a conniving old wench who would give you what you paid for in regards to townies. Didn't she also leave genie lamps as well? I thought she was pretty cool. And considering you're the one who populates the towns and any sim is easily able to be edited in Sims 3, there's not really a reason to complain about "fugly townies" anymore.

i was hoping it would be more of a 'time travel to the past, present or future' one instead of just future. we'll see how they pull this off, i guess. that would be weird for it to be the last expansion but i know the series can't go on forever (which sucks) lol

Personally, I dislike the idea of actually time-travelling, since that was already in Ambitions. Futuristic things in general, though? Well, if it turns out to be TS3: Mad Science, I'll probably enjoy it a great deal. I always loved the sillier, more sci-fi items like weather machines and building robots, so this could be right up my alley. Just include a good creature, a decent town and something for all life stages to do and I'll probably buy it.

God, that would be hilariously morbid. "Visit the future! See what excitements your Sims have waiting for them in the not-so-distant future!"

Hover cars and robots?

Nope.

Then bam! Nuclear apocalyptic wasteland ala Fallout 3.

Don't get your hopes up. It may look futuristic, but don't expect EA to make the future sims act any differently from any other sims.

Eh, I'm sure CC creators will quickly start to make Fallout items using whatever sci-fi tech this expansion introduces no matter what the original versions look like. Hell, I've already seen some Fallout 3 conversions used for base game household items on a few sites- TVs, computers, that sort of thing. It'll happen.

I get very very worried when people start getting all excited about EPs ... so often they disappoint and people get upset ... I really really hope that the new EPs for *once* give everyone what they want!

You said in your previous post that there were more harvestables in Sims 2. But the only one missing is the oranges but EA keeps adding new harvests so these should be added soon. The strawberries you're talking about were CC BTW (made by Echo IIRC and were available here at MTS). In the meanwhile you can use the CC oranges added by the Cooking overhaul mod. Someone took over to update the mod I think.

The sims only fell asleep in their dishes because the meal duration was proportional to the number of sims eating together. So if there was more than 4 or 5 sims involved meals would last more than 3 hours. Long enough for some sims to fall asleep during supper. Some meals were SO long that some sims were hungry again lol. That's why the opposite was made in Sims 3, way too drastically yes but I wouldn't want those endless meals back, nope, never.

Security robots. Why there are mods even here at MTS to avoid the robots constant breaking if that wasn't the case? Maybe you had one of these mods and don't remember using it. Those robots were not that useful anyway, were good for the look of it but route failed more than often, when they didn't break. The security one was funny though since it kept zapping everyone. That one would make a nice come back!

The gypsy was replaced by a (pay) well that does the same thing and gives you a random townie. At least we have a gypsy trailer with fun options or can do our own gypsy sims. You can also use the computer to have a date with a townie, the sims 2 gypsy made her own meetic blog on the sims 3 web apparently

Bugs infestation were more realistic in Sims 2? I personally prefer Sims 1 method, i.e. bugs that didn't involve a shrink for life because a sim sprayed some and is forever crying over that. Sims 1 is more realistic: the sim stomped them and didn't care more than that, just like in real life. No trauma. So yes I agree with you bugs should come back but not using Sims 2 method with a crying moodlet that would last 999 days. No, one hour sobbing should be way enough.

You could grow strawberries with Seasons. You don't need a mod for this. As soon as you got the bronze badge, you could plant them. The harvestables that came with Seasons were: strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, lemons, apples, peppers, pole beans, and eggplants.

As for mods, for Sims 3, there are also mods to prevent your sims from jumping on trampolines too often, playing in the sprinkler all the time, and preventing meteors. I've never had a meteor in my game. Ever. And I don't have that mod to prevent them. Only two sims that I have ever created have played with the sprinkler and I use sprinklers at almost every house that I play. Maybe a handful have ever used the trampoline and mostly because I left a couple of firemen to do whatever they wanted in Appaloosa Plains. The only mod that I do use to stop them from doing something is the one that prevents them from playing video games and that's because the sound is unbalanced and is too loud, not because that's all they seem to do.

Just because some people have tons of their sims doing it and are annoyed by it doesn't mean that it was an absolute plague on absolutely every player. I was never plagued by robots breaking.

Yeah, it occurred to me when I opened up TS2 yesterday. "Wait a minute, how did Mortimer get so old when he was just a- OHHHH NOOO THE FIRST GAME!"

New prediction! This TS3 expansion takes your Sims 25 years into the future and makes their free will completely useless!

I think they pretty much covered the "past" part with The Sims Medieval, and travelling to the present wouldn't make much sense if they were already there!

That means the only way to go is towards The Sims 2 The Sims!
