But does anyone know if this guide works with computer videos? If yes which .DATA i have to change?

EDIT: Also how can i change the Movies Hangout SP channels? I can't find the right DATA.

If by computer videos you mean those like the screen during hacking, practice, etc; yes you can. The _AVI are in those with the TV channels.
You can also do the movies in the Movie Hangout Stuff Pack (SP5). The _AVI files are found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\SP05\ClientFullBuild0.package.

I used to do this constantly until my random crashes to desktop linked to them, most times they played from beginning to end without issues, but then sometimes my game would crash at the start of a custom clip or right at the end, having many custom clips including computer games, jukebox animations, tablet games, etc etc. became more trouble that it's worth.

If you had zeroes issues with everything I'll take my hat off to you.

I have a gut feeling, there's some code or signature that's needed in the custom clips that maybe the game randomly checks for, that no one knows..

I was simply extracting TS3 video files from S3PE in it's raw format, then renaming one of them to S4_376840D7_00000000_8F5640B725DAD241%%+_AVI which is one of the overides for the kids channel, added them into a package with S4PE and shows no issues whatsoever, and no random crashes

Mind you it's a big small because the sizes don't match and doesn't fit the entrie screen, so if there's a Sims 3 tutorial on custom video, exact same rules with apply, only you should use the correct size for TS4 Video.

Oh wow! Sounds a little confusing but think I get it. Any way you could tell me the strings for the other channels? I've been wanting to create custom videos for forever and could do it if I got the right set of directions, please let me know if you can help Or at least tell me how you found the: S4_376840D7_00000000_8F5640B725DAD241%%+_AVI string

thanks a lot!

before I read the tutorial, I have a question about the requirements. it says this thread hasn't had a response in three months, but hopefully someone will answer me. XD

do you HAVE to have those programs to work with the video and audio? I mean, I have a video editor where I can create videos in a multitude of formats with the audio already in said video, and I use format factory to convert files, and format factory literally has EVERY format. if I use these tools, would those other programs be unnecessary?

You can use any video or audio converters but you must have Generic Stream Creator and VP6 Convertor.

Noticed Generic Stream Creator also accepts correctly encoded MP3 files as well as WAV, so I find Audacity great for the audio encoding.

So can this be used for making console games with City Living? I'd like to add more.

Thanks for the tutorial it is so helpful!
I do have one minor problem though.
All of a sudden my sx.exe keeps crashing and I am not able to output an audiostream.dat file. Any suggestions?

I know this is old, but I recently got back to The Sims 4 and the thought of playing custom videos on in-game screens brought me here. I do have an issue though. The VirtualDub's video compression window does not have the VP6 option, despite me uninstalling and reinstalling the codec multiple times. I'm currently using the 64-bit VirtualDub.

@Rainex - I used the 32-bit VirtualDub (v 1.10.4) back when I played around with this years ago and that worked well. I don't think that VP6 codec is available in a 64-bit version.

@katherinekpm - I have a copy of the VP6Convert008.exe file, but not the original rar file from that post - not sure if there was anything else in that rar that is also required. I can't post it here, but if you give me a shout on Deaderpool's Discord server I can toss you a copy on there. Or I could throw it on a Google drive or something if you'd prefer.

sorry for a necro post.. i have 3 questions i cant find answers to anywhere else

1- how long does a custom video have to be? i have made 2 music videos for the game using this tutorial, and whilst they both work, my Sim doesn't sit through either from start to end (around 4min each)
2 - is there a way to keep my sim sat long enough to finish the video or to have tv play in the background like the damn radio does?
3 - is it possible to make a new channel for the option chart or rename an existing one to better suit the custom video style? (one is in romance, the other in sports)

1. Sims weren't designed to watch 4m+ videos, without a mod sims don't like to watch TV that long.

2. You can keep Tv playing by shift clicking the tv or sim watching if.with Force Error.

3. Possible yes, but by the tone of your question you seem to have from none to a little modding experience otherwise you wouldn't ask this question. For a new channel you will need to start by creating a new instance number.

Well... WickedWhims mod add new interaction to computers - "watch porn" It's like new channel with 3 new videos, but idk how it's make. In Sims4Studio i can only found this new avi files but no any data files for it.

Hi! VirtualDub doesn't list VP6 as an option, even though VP6 has been successfully installed on my PC (Windows 10). I tried to find a solution on the internet, but I didn't find any... Is there someone who can possibly help me with this? Thanks!

Hey! Sorry for necroing this thread, but is it possible to add new custom channels now? I tried replacing channels and it works, but I really need to know if it's possible to add a new one. I tried this tutorial on adding custom interactions on objects and it won't work: http://modthesims.info/showthread.p...110#post4710110

Too bad there's not a single app function like in Sims4Studio or something where you can just override an existing channel and it'll convert an .mp4 on the fly and you're done.

Are there any updates on how to do this in 2020? VP6 Decoder is not on VirtualDub list. I have imported all the hard coded Sims Channels to watch and list them by best description. I am at the beginning of this tut.

What version you use? Try VirtualDub-1.10.4

I'm not sure if it would be ok to post the link here but when you use a search engine...the very first result is vp6 version 6.4.2.0.
