Default Favorite Neighborhood?
What is a custom made 'hood that still has a special place in your heart today? What memories do you have of this 'hood?

My favourite hood is my current one, Coral Bay. Of course it is only so good because PlasticBox did the hard task of shaping and building.

As to hoods I made myself, my legacy hood or my challenge hood. Whoop Whoop is an Aussie slang term for the back of nowhere, which is what that hood is called. These are both in my old game which is till have, although Whoop Whoop is corrupted.

The one that has blown up into the invisible space thing I tried, but never could recreate it. I am happy enough with my new hoods, though!

My oldest one, which I still play a lot. It's called Sunset Valley.
No, there was no The Sims 3 back then when my father and I created that neighborhood together (early 2005).

Pretty much all my favourite Sims live there.

I've only made the one custom hood - partially inspired by a small city I used to live in, it's gone through a variety of names and appearances (originally, it was called Cactus Flats!) as I've re-assembled over the past few years but in its current incarnation, it is transforming into a desert downtown to be included with Strangetown.

I hate to write this, but I try not to get too enamored of a hood. I have this weird habit of finding really obscure ways to corrupt a hood that all of three people have heard about since 2004. And I've read about VBTs so often that I can recite them by heart, so it's not because I don't know about the common ways to corrupt hoods. When I encounter one of these obscure methods, I Google my problem ... nothing. I ask about the problem ... I get head-scratching. I look at my hood .... nice knowing ya, Simmies!

And if I do mention a certain custom hood I took months trying to lay out, and of which I'm really, really proud, I'd be afraid of jinxing it! As far as I'm concerned, every month I play this hood is a good month! (Knocks wood, crosses fingers, etc.)

Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.

I'm still playing the one I created in 2007 named Isla Del Kashmire . It's supposed to be a small Island city, relatively crime-free and where most of the families in the hood reside with a few family businesses. It's bumping along and the only hood in my game. Though new subhoods have been added over the years.

Kashmire has a shopping district called 'Kashmire Point ' which is mostly a series of boardwalk shops with beaches and a few seaside homes but as years continue on and hopefully the hood doesn't combust I will add more businesses there.

It has three downtowns:

Scandalica City : A boisterous type metropolis with warehouses, nightlife, and plenty of things to do. Tall apartment buildings for sims who want a more urban environment to live in.

Memosa Bay : A more cosmopolitain area that celebrates the arts, nature, shopping, and food with it's unique amphitheater, state park, and botanical gardens, it also is the only city to have an indoor concert arena.

Pandora : A desert town to the south is where anything goes. Shady motels, the brothel, the drive-by chapel, local gambling joints, and a commercial casino are some of it's draws plus a artisan market and a rugged campground.

And since it's been bumping along so long, there are plenty of memories - like in the early days crime was rampant across the region - A lot of housewives lived double-lives in the criminal career track and formed a syndicate called 'Misguided Mistresses' but then A man named Ash Calhoun became Captain Hero and married a judge and the syndicate disbanded and crime is virtually non-existent (seriously, there are no sims in criminal career track). He's retiring soon so who knows if the miscreants will rise up again?

Or the time Kent Orbinson's wife suddenly disappeared without a trace (boo VBT)? The Orbinson family was the first family I ever made in the hood and Kent has long since passed but his legacy continues when his son established the Orbinsons a political family in the hood and now the torch is passing to his great-grandson to do the family name proud.

I'm gonna keep playing my hood until it dies or I do.

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

In what context? the picture of Pandora with hood deco is just vanilla stuff from all EPs but I have it photoedited. However a lot of the lots in the hood contain custom content.

My favorite custom hood has to be Peni's Widespot. All the soap opera Pleasantview should have had and didn't!

I REALLY wanted an oriental themed hood, but I can't for the life of me find one! Regardless, I am sure yours looks rather interesting, and I hope you enjoy it. I'm jealous!

My favourite was the prosperous farming neighbourhood of Acadie. A few Sims worked for the Oceanography Department, and youngsters headed to downtown Orleans to earn some money while waiting to inherit a farm or to save enough to buy one, but the vast majority worked the land in summer and relaxed or studied in winter. Inheritance was strictly in the male line, but no Sim would inherit two farms while his brother went without: the heir was the nearest male relative (adult if possible) who hadn't already inherited something. Marriages were arranged, so if there was no male heir, the heiress would be married to a younger son, who would take his wife's name to continue her lineage. Divorce was not permitted: one Sim did run off to Orleans with another woman and have several children by her, but the church saw to it that he sent every Simoleon he earned back to his wife and first family.

This neighbourhood had my favourite iteration of the Ottomas twins. Emily took after Tommy in not looking too weird, but wasn't a very nice person; luckily, her assigned husband had the same LTW she did: they both wanted to be architects, so they took off to Orleans and were quite happy together. Poor Iris was as pudding-faced as David (though still not as ugly as some of them have been), but was a really sweet person; she married a wealthy farmer and was perfectly happy giving him a long line of (pudding-faced) children.

@ Emperor Crat I did not find this Asian neighborhood anywhere I custom build it on my own. You can do the same thing just do a custom neighborhood and build your very own buildings or download some Asian buildings.
I do not have BV EP in my game so I was all on my own, If you really want an Asian neighborhood start off and search for Sims that are Asian or create them yourself.

Also there are Asian buildings I ran across lots of them even on this site and other Sims site, but I could not download because I did not have the EP for them, there is also lots of Asian furniture.
Also it will be somewhat hard to find one particular group of Asian Sims, that why my neighborhood is mixed with Chinese, Japanese and Korean,

Finding traditional clothes for special time is very easy to find, also names for each Asian Sims group was no big thing.
Just start by during research for the items you will need. It took me between 4 to near 6 months to get my custom hood the way I wanted it to be.

You must have "patience" If that what you want to do try it for this new year 2017 feel free to ask me for help if needed in your search. Also WCIF forum is a good place to post and ask for help to find items like lots etc.
My Asian Sims live in modern time and only wear their traditional clothing when there is a traditional holiday etc.

My favorite neighborhoods where three old ones from which I didn't save the storytelling (images) and just deleted the entire folder. Ugh! I know I deleted them because I didn't believe I would play TS2 anymore (that time I left like 2 years), and that they were highly corrupted, but ugh! Feestrang! Think! If they were too important for you you shoul've saved the images, at least.

If you are planning on leaving TS2, or deleting a neighborhood because it's corrupted, I advise you all to save the damn storytelling. It's probably only a few Mb, and It's fun to remember those sims, but it's definitely better to see and revive those old moments after a few years have passed. Or maybe i'm just a softie.

New Gameshire. The sims claim the name is related to the rich wildlife in the forests, but it's actually another example of how uncreative I am with names (both of sims and places). It's a pun on "new game", is all.

New Gameshire was an overseas colony that could only be reached by ship, so every newly created sim had to spent some time in one of my apartment ships and sometimes I rolled for weather which could result in a shipwreck in some remote place. The 'hood was semi-selfsufficient and often sims had to clear a lot off trees before they could settle. I lost interest in the setting after the initial settling phase was finished, but I occassionally use elements of New Gameshire gameplay in other neighborhoods.

How do you build an apartment ship, might I ask? (I'm genuinely curious) Regardless, your neighborhood sounds quite awesome.

My favorite custon hood of all times: Csonka Canon. And the favorite part has nothing to do with being a perfectly build nice looking hood.
It was about the invested time, all the storylines, the sims themselves and all the fun times I had.
Even if I never am able to play it again (corrupted to the bone with related serious crashing problem, I was done with trying to fix in order to keep playing) I'll always will keep a copy on an extern memory device.
Up until now it hasn't worked out to get the same feeling about a new custom hood.
After Csonka Canon I had a hood Cornerhill. Couldn't make it work to feel attached to it, lost interest, stopped playing alltogether. Came back from the hiatus and created a new custom hood Fayport. Haven't played for the last weeks. Every day I say to myself, today we are going to play but it doesn't really happen.
I miss storylines and to make progress in other ways I first need to dive into tutorials to set certain things up. Somehow I can't put myself to that and therefore the hood's now come to a screeching halt. I also regret the hood name (yes, I could change that easily, know how) It was picked too hastily, doesn't have any meaning or background story, because I was more interested in starting to set up the hood.
I wished I could just go back to Csonka Canon and play happily ever after. Recreating wouldn't be my thing. It wouldn't be the same because of the already build up characters and other issues. Still I always will think back fondly of this hood.

I always loved playing a neighbourhood I made called Lacuna Delta. It was a slightly depressing place, industrial and dark, but I had a lot of fun with the characters and lots. :lovestruc
