View Full Version : What causes this annoying behaviour?

Ive tried to search for this, but somehow I cant find the right keywords for it.
Anyway, I started a new neighbourhood and it contains some sims that cause some incredibly annoying behaviour of the surrounding sims.
The surrounding sims kind of clutch their head in despair( if thats the right expression) and scream and a thought bubble shows above their head with the face of the bloody annoying sim that causes this.
I have no clue why this happens, but it makes playing almost impossible near those sims. It takes ages before my sim reacts to my commands again.
Untill now I simply obliterated any sim that caused it, it annoys me that much, but I rather would remove that behaviour completely, or learn how to change those sims so they dont cause that anymore.
Does anyone know why they do that and maybe have a tip for me to get rid of this?

If you have LN it could be caused by vampires who have been in the sun too long.

The sim in question that causes the behaviour of the other sims is not a vampire and it happens also when inside.
Last time it was the party host that was causing it, so all guests just stood there clutching their heads in despair while screaming :/
This was without smoldering vampires nearby :D
I have no clue why they do that or what its supposed to tell about the sim they react to.

Maybe they have the aura of evil?

It happened yesterday when my sim was at a party. Another guest did something inappropriate and all the other sims started screaming and clutching their heads while looking at him and thinking about him. It looked really weird, the way they all dropped what they were doing and turned towards him. In real life, I would have been mortified if people stared at me like that.

They were all looking at the partyhost when they were doing that. The moment he left the room, the sims in that room acted like nothing happened untill he came back again and they immediately started to go crazy again.
I was expecting that at some point the partyhost would have a thoughtbubble saying 'Omg they have discovered my secret!' or something like that :p But he didnt even seem to notice it. But maybe he is used to ppl acting crazy around him by now.
I still want to know why this happens though. The whole town knows what the deal is with that sim, except me!

LOL. That happened to me at some place in town. I had no idea what was wrong until I clicked on a female, and it said "take to hospital", so that's what I had my male sim do! It was very hard to convince him not to 'be with' and take her home and all that. I was determined to NOT save my game if he ended up with another family by this noble act, :)
He finally went home and was a good ol' fella after that. I guess whatshername had the baby alone.

My sims do that all the time and it seems so random. When i zooming out to map view and hovering the mouse over the sims who do that you can see it says they are freaking out. But that still does not explain why they are freaking out. I would like to know why that is also because it kind of bugs me too. Especially when there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Sounds like perfectly normal sims to me... so to speak.

If you post a pic of the scene when this is happening it would better enable people to see what may be triggering this behaviour.

I was reading a blog somewhere where someone posted the longterm effects of this bug, but I can't find the link darnit.... The player took pictures of sims peeing themselves and passing out in front of the city hall. Any sim that would wander by would get caught in the interaction loop and soon most of the town was trapped, dying. I think the post might have been something like "Sims peeing themselves to death". Gross. But more problematic was the fact that the player reset the town and things would be fine until a sim noticed the bugger and would get caught, and then the cycle of death would resume.
Edit: I found a link, but not the bloggish one with extensive pictures that I'm remembering. This one is right here at MTS.. This sounds a nasty way for a town to die. Here we go again....oh Noooooooo! (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=424396) .
We need a name for this bug. Maybe: "Tarpit of Screaming Death"? or perhaps "Screaming Juggernaught of Timeless Demise" or more simply "Honeypot of DOOM"
And yes, the behavior at the blog was very similar to the OP, only the sim that was causing the problem was also caught in the loop, possibly due to there being two sims with the problem, freaking each other out, which caused irrevocable lockup.
I'll see if I can find that post. It was as amusing as it was tragic. :bunny:

That doesn't sound like the OP's problem though.
mithrak_nl, is your active sim a doctor? If so another sim in the area will sometimes get sick and everyone will react to them in panic and worry.
You could also see what traits and occupation the sim has, could be something to do with that.

Hum... I thought that was an idle action for grumpy, mean spirited or loner sims... Can't remember exactly which one...

I remember seeing that post too yes :) And it does look like what happened in my game. The animation of them freaking out is the same. Except there was just one sim causing it,the partyhost, so when he left the room or went to bed (before the party was over mind you), the other sims stopped freaking out.
The two other times Ive seen it happening I killed those sims :/ It was in the best interest of the town Im sure :p But killing the partyhost seemed a little too much even for me :p

No the partyhost in question was in business (not sure what the exact English name for the job is). But its a job at the business rabbithole. And I could only see 3 traits, so Im not sure if he was evil.

If anyone sees this and has AwesomeMod installed, activate the debug interactions, CRTL-Shift-Click, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" and post the resulting popup here, so I can quash it.

My sims will randomly freak out about another sim. The sim in question won't be doing anything in particular, sometimes they are just working out or something. Other times one sim will freak out and then another sim will freak out about the sim freaking out... But after they freak out they keep on with whatever they were doing. It hasn't stopped my game yet, but I have no idea why they are doing it. :D

I get the same thing, but they're also walking along and going about their business whilst clutching their heads and screaming.
