downloading sims question

Have a question.. I am trying to download my sims but I do not have a Sim file.. The Winzip automatically puts it in the downloads bin.. the houses I have downloaded from this site work great in the game. So my question is do I have to make a sim file to put my sims in?? Any help would be greatly beneficial.

If they are in .sims format then SavedSims is the name of the folder you want, found in Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3. If you don't have one you can just create one: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_TS3_Sims.

If they are sims3pack format they are installed via the launcher like lots and worlds.
