Title: Newbie Road 27
Category: Lots & Housing > Residential > Starter Homes
Cost: 19.935
Lot size: 3x2
No expansion packs required.
Custom content: 1 x Floor (*not* terrain paint), made by myself
Description:
Starter house, furnished for 1-2 Sims, with a little garden and porch in the back. Some decoration as well. Designed as a row house -- a second, identical one will fit on the same lot.
1 x double bedroom
1 x bathroom
1 x kitchen/dining
1 x livingroom
1 x spare room (unfurnished)
Basic appliances included: lights, toilet (obscured in the screenshot - it's to the left of the bathroom door), bathtub, fridge, kitchen sink, trashcan, phone, burglar alarm, smoke detector, bookshelf. This house also has a microwave, a TV and an easel. There's enough room for a carport.
Expandability: Basement or second floor would be quite complicated I believe, but there's space for another house on the same lot (row house style).
Recommended hack: For the row house option, get some of Inge Jones' keyholder doors (www.simlogical.com, under Downloads > TS2 > Hacked Doors) or a similar access management system -- otherwise your sims won't know which house is theirs.
Note:
If you get an "expansion pack data required" error upon installation, please try Clean Installer instead of the Maxis one. Apparently this is a known issue (not specific to this download), see this thread describing the problem and this post (daysies) explaining the workaround.
Enjoy!

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
