Cannot take all the credit for the idea is based on the mortgage shrub from simlogical.com. These paintings are available in 4 denominations either 1000, 5000, 10000 or 25000 amounts instead of just the 1000 amount available with the mortgage shrub.
When you purchase the painting you are credited with the corresponding amount of money. Then you pay 1% interest on the money borrowed each day. When you wish to pay back the money you just need to sell the painting and the amount borrowed is deducted from your cash.
Each painting has a recolour included if you don't want the loan deed displayed.
To install just do the usual, extract the files to your sims 2 downloads directory. Not to sure whether this works with all the sims 2 games I have nightlife installed and this works with that not sure of compatibility with the base game or with university.
Also if you place a picture in a house that you build the cost to buy the house is reduced by that amount meaning that you can build an expensive house and place a couple of the pictures in the house lowering the price, so that your sims can move into a big house with out the saving money beforehand, remember that you sims will have to pay the interest when they move in.

Edit - 18/01/2006.

There is a slight side effect to this item, but shouldn't cause problems to many people. If you take out a loan but do not spend the money your lot value is reduced which is what appears the cost of your bills is based on which means if you don't use the money to increase the overall value of your lot you can end up with a negative lot value which in turn leads to negative bills, so you get money for paying your bills.

Update - Have included two new files, these are investments bonds available in amounts of 10000 and 25000. These objects allow any of your sims with surplus cash to invest the money and back some interest on the money. The bonds pay 1% interest per day. The objects do increase the lot value so this means that your weekly bills also increase to compensate for this the amount of interest paid per day is increase to match the increase in the weekly bills, the 10000 bond will pay 117 per day this equates to the 100 interest and 17 to cover the increase in bills, the 25000 pay 293 per day that is 250 interest and 43 for the increase in bills.
