Gruene Haus

The Gruene Haus (pronounced green, named for a Texas town) is dedicated to the elf royalty incarnate, Lethe_s. it was her wonderful creations and enthusiasm for all things elven that inspired me to make this.

It is an elven estate house. Within the constraints of my own limited imagination and the limits of the game, I have tried to create a home that is oddly alien (as in another species -- not another planet) in style, but close enough to the human aesthetic to be appreciated.

It is situated on a 3x4 lot and costs a mere $148,492 gold pieces.

I’m rather pleased with the way it turned out, but it isn’t a house for everyone’s taste. If you like the general look of the house, but not the oddness of the details -- take out the indoor & roof plants and change the fence-look walls and doors to more traditional ones.

Here are some more pics, if you are interested: http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e...true&interval=3.

This was made with content from only the Finest creators. Please respect their work and do NOT upload this lot anywhere.

Credits:

KomoSims – walls, floors and terrains -- Komo’s speciality -- are the most important component of setting the style and mood of a lot. The artistry from KomoSims seems to feature in every lot I build. For this lot, SimLin55 and Komo provided those perfect touches. http://www.komosims.net/

Ailias – A talented and versatile creator. In this case, his edge smoother was the perfect finishing touch. http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=16333

Cyclone Sue – a talented builder, she has also created and shared some marvelous terrains. A few were used in this lot -- but if you do any terrain work at all, you will want more. You can find them here: http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=21917

Daryl Markloc – I was kind of surprised to see that only a tree from Daryl ended up in this lot. He has so many wonderful creations -- they are always turning up in my buildings. You can find all of his things here http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=243958.

Echo – A talented creator who makes things that you didn’t know you needed -- until she gives them to you and then you wonder why they haven’t been there all along. (Who hasn’t heard of Echo’s rug mesh?0 Her Harvestable Plants are featured in this lot. See all of her creations here: http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=42165.

SimAddict – Has made clones of Echo’s harvestable plants -- giving us more variety and good looks. Between her & Echo‘s efforts gardening has never been more beautiful, fun and profitable. http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=23847

Fat D has made that most indispensable to decorating of all objects -- The Downshift. (You will find it under misc., misc.). See all his great creations: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=114495

Hexameter – Can you believe that horse is really a car? Now your less modern sims can have all the transportaion conveniences of modern life and still be charmingly in period. You will want to check out all of Hexameter’s vehicles -- they are phenomenal. http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=75890

JWoods – How can you make something that takes cues from Tolkien’s Middle Earth and not use Jwoods hobbit holes set? http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=84670. He really is a mesh maestro -- just like his MTS title says.

Moon_Ez – That great architectual elements creator (doors, windows, balconies, etc.) has given us those finishing style elements that make a building great. In this case, his psuedo-fencing recolor of Numenor’s doors & windows provided the perfect touch and variety for interiors. … and, ooh-la-la - don’t forget those balconies! http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=67276

Numenor, the Mod Father. Custom content as we know it would not be if it wasn‘t for the talent, creativity and generosity of this man. The seamless wall windows & doors are classic building components. http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70222

Lethe_s & Magic Modders – Lethe_s architectual elements such as floors, walls, terrains, doors, windows and columns were part of the inspiration for this. She did happen to mention that she really needed an elven state house in her game, and I hope this fills the bill. (Of course, if it doesn’t, just let me know. It is always delightful to build with these elegant things.) Everyone should go get some of her elven furniture -- it will go perfect in this house.

She is also a member of Magick Modders -- another source of great magical, mystical, fantastical things such as those found in Midsummer‘s Night Dream. Find all of Lethe_s and the Magick Modders group things here: http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=50252 and http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=99584.

The Mod Squad brought us the SimStones. A beautiful example of how great design transcends the ages. Elements of this set work perfectly from stone age to space age and even for those Middle Earth periods that didn’t really happen in between. http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=172481

Neo_Sniper – Such a seemingly little thing, a single floor tile, yet this delightful water tile was fundamental to the complete look of the house.-- the perfect indoor water, no plumbing required. I think he may have forgotten that he posted such a perfect water tile, but just so you don‘t forget: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=46281

Parsimonius – There is an unbelievable variety and wealth of free downloads at Parsimonius. Walls, floors, terrains, and the Eponymous garden plants by Kate are featured in this lot (but you should visit -- they have a lot more.) They have a great group of creators. Kate, Happy Moon Belly, The Sorceress, and more (who were too modest to put their names directly on their creations) all helped in their own way to make this a success. http://www.parsimonious.org/

A huge thank you to all the talented folks who made this possible.

And a large Thank You to Hysterical Paroxysm , Rhondalette , Jonesi , and Patul they were tremendous help to me as I worked thru getting this lot to an acceptable file size.

P.S. I’d love to hear and see how you have made this your own.
