Sunday House

This is a starter home set on a 2x2 lot. It costs $17,673 and has all the basics I think sims need to get started. The house design is based off a common older starter houses at the base of the Texas Hill Country. It is a remodeled Sunday House.

The German farmers and ranchers would keep a “Sunday House” in town – basically a dry place to sleep when they came into town for worship and supplies. Initially the house would be nothing more than a single sleeping room and a porch. Any cooking would take place outside over a fire. Mamma would usually pack prepared food for the trip so she could have time to shop and socialize. The toilet was an outhouse or bush.

As the family grew more prosperous, a second room was added so parents could have a little more privacy. Sometimes Opa and Oma (grandparents) would expand the house yet again and retire in town – leaving the farming and ranching to the young folks. As the need/desire for Sunday houses diminished, they were often updated to include an indoor bathroom and kitchen area – reflecting a charming mix of old and new..

HolySmoly’s Tulip Grove paint and railings were what inspired me to build the house. You can find more of their great stuff at: http://www.holysimoly.com/index.cfm?go=home.welcome

Sunni Sims, http://kimberspace.mattwork.potsdam...isims/index.php was also inspired by the Tulip Grove paints and railings. She recolored the railings to coordinate with the siding paint. Aren’t they charming?

I don’t know if I could make a house without the creative gifts of the fine artists at KomoSims. http://www.komosims.net/. In this house walls, floors and terrains by Komo and SimLin55 have been used.

DarylMarkLoc’s Australian Federation Collection contributed the metal roofing (so common in south central Texas – though usually not this pretty color), window and tree. You can see the complete collection here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=133487

Roddy Aleixo gave us that most versatile of all driveways – the transparent driveway. http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=90875. Better than having a hundred recolored driveways.

I love to hear about your sims living in my houses and see how you have redecorated.
