EDIT June 28, 2007: jmtmom discovered that this hairstyle was causing issues with some custom skintones -- it was overwriting the bald part of the head with its own textures. I discovered that I had incorrectly set one of the flags to recognize this hair as a skintone as well as hair! It's all fixed now, just drop it in the same folder you have the originals and it will overwrite them. I fixed the original files, so sims with this hair should not end up bald, they will get the fixed version.

This hat hair is based on the Vamp hair with bangs I have here:
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=232467
Just like the Nightlife vampire hair it is based on, it will clip through outfits that do not fit closely to the body, so I don't recommend it for bulky jackets. The elder hair includes all four hat colors, so you can install just one recolor in your game if you want.
If you don't have Seasons (like me), you don't have to worry about your sim wearing her hat in the shower: I used Gwillewyn's tutorial to make this hat work just like a Maxis hat: it comes off automatically when your sim isn't wearing an everyday or formal outfit. This works because I have included my Vamp-hair-with-bangs mesh, and the recolors of the beret hair includes the colors that mesh would use; your sim will use that hair when she isn't wearing her hat. You will need both meshes, which are included. I also edited the properties of the hair to ensure that it works as a hat for attraction.
Polygon Counts:
Vamp Beret mesh: 1178 triangles for the adult mesh, 1114 triangles for the teen, 1152 for the child, and 1022 triangles for the toddler mesh, all combined into one 404 kb package file
Vamp Bangs mesh: 1162 triangles for the adult and teen meshes (each), 1192 for child, and 1064 for the toddler; all are combined into one 426 kb package file

This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below for more information.

Policies:
SHARING: You may freely share my objects, hair, any and all textures, and all my recolors on any FREE site (including the Exchange) or through emails to your friends, just so long as you attribute them to me. (You do not have a free site if you offer ''donation items'' that are only available to those who pay you. If you sell ''donation items'' I don't want my things or recolors of my meshes on your site even if those items are free. You can use MTS2 instead. TSR is a paysite and I don't want my stuff there anymore either.)
REQUESTS: I don't do any requests. I only make stuff that I want in my own game. I don't modify my already existing textures and files for someone else, either; it's not that I'm unsympathetic, just that I'm lazy and don't want to spend the time. Sorry.
Sims 1 files: All of my Sims 1 stuff is free to share, just like my Sims 2 stuff. If you're interested in my old stuff, check out my journal (above) and find the entry on Sims 1 for the current links, or scroll to the bottom of the page and check out my signature. :)
