In a few hours, I converted my apartment building to two garage apartments, but when I had sims living in it who I wanted to have live together, I chose to go further and make this a single home, adding to a series of homes from just one structure.
The home is completely furnished and decorated and ready for a couple of sims to start out. I literally did the conversion in a few hours, allowing one bathroom to remain intact while the rest needed major renovation. Your sims will be on their way to further their education, and speaking of education, my previous lot of studio apartments using this structure is great for college students in the University neighborhood.
All this, and hackfree, no cheats or custom content.

Funny Story: When I was about to wed two sims, the woman kept her headgear on while shopping for a matching wedding dress in the Pleasantview boutique, and when she got home, she was hungry. With her wedding dress finally on, she decided to cook something as all the guests were arriving. Then, a fire broke out, and the firefighter couldn't reach the fire and all the guests were panicking in the kitchen while the firefighter watched. Then, in her wedding dress, the sim extinguished most of the fire before I decided everyone needed a shower, when I proceeded to place open showers around the perimeter of the home, even though they left. Then, the sims married alone, after everyone left. They had a traditional video wedding after their showers, but both were crying as they ate buffet food at separate tables.
