The Kensington Co-op was founded by 6 college friends who needed an affordable place to live in after graduation. They found an old apartment block, about to be demolished, and brokered a great deal. After gutting the tiny apartments, they transformed the building into a cheery communal home, replete with facilities that they couldn't have afforded on their own.
The top floor is used as the bedroom, where members of the co-op sleep dorm-style. Clever dividing walls provide some privacy. People love sitting and reading on the front and back balconies, enjoying the cool breeze and great views. This top floor is a popular escape from the usual bustle of the household, as no one comes up here except to sleep.
Right below the bedroom, the fourth floor apartment has been transformed into a spacious, open hobby room. On one side a band kit has been set up, and on the other a mini gym. The wall-to-wall carpeting helps absorb sound.
On the third floor is the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has been renovated with brand-new appliances, including a top of the line gas stove for cooking enthusiasts. The dining table seats four and there's a comfortable couch facing the TV and stereo. The room is decorated in bright and cheerful colours and co-op members have hung some personal effects on the walls.
The second floor apartment is a full-featured workshop. With 4 hobby benches, members rarely squabble over who gets to use them. There's also an indoor vegetable garden for the green-fingered. The workshop is also furnished with a couple of comfy sofas and a well-stocked library, for sims to get off their feet when building robots becomes too exhausting.
On the first floor, plush zebra-patterned carpeting sets the tone for a cool lounge-room. Dramatic lighting and stylish seating complete the look. The lounge is fitted with a bar and a DJ booth for optimal party capability.
The co-op members are never bored living in their apartment, with friends never more than a floor away and always something to do. Unfortunately, the co-op isn't very family friendly due to space constraints. Because of this, a few members of the co-op have since moved away to start families, leaving behind vacancies. The co-op is looking for new members, so apply today!

I have so many people to thank for this lot! In no particular order:
Thanks to LongDaysEnd and MissLoaf for coming up with the contest that inspired this lot. Thank you Leesester for helping me assemble pictures more awesome than anything I could do myself, and also for your endless generosity and supportiveness.
Thanks to Mootilda for her LotAdjustor and MaryLou for her mini residential lots. I couldn't have built this without their creations! Also, last but not least, thanks to HystericalParoxysm for her bottomful floors, which I used for the ceilings in the screenshots.

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.
