Rubrost was the home of Lewis David Hurley, an early automobile industrialist. Built in 1913, the mansion was constructed of beige stone, featuring russet brick accents with a green roof and trim. It is a stunning example of the Prairie Style, located in what was once the outskirts of the city. The numerous porches once offered splendid views of the surrounding country side.
The interior is dominated by the dark and masculine rooms preferred by Mr. Hurley. It boasts a wonderful master suite with a sleeping porch. There are three more bedrooms for family and guests. Three additional bedrooms are reserved for the staff, which, along with the kitchen, are noticeably brighter. In total, there are six full bathrooms and two half-baths.

Creator's Note
Hawkeye, the mansion of Frank Wheeler, a co-founder of the Indianapolis 500, was my inspiration. The exterior shape is quite similar, but while I have been inside the neighboring Allison Mansion extensively, I have only once briefly been in the Wheeler Mansion. So without any knowledge of the floor plans and layout, this is by no means a recreation.
