Now that EA has fixed the hair-crashing bug with a recent patch, I've started making a few hairs I've been wanting to do for a long time. Before using this hair, be sure your game is patched up to date.
Here's a conversion of the women's big afro hair for children. The one .package file works for both boys and girls. I've packaged it with the adult colours, so that kids can have the fun colours too, but have left out the 'elder' colours (the gray and the salt & pepper colours). I did leave in white, though, in case you have albino kids or a fantasy kid who has white hair.
The hair works with the children's hats, after much time working on the hat-chop meshes, which was a hair-raising adventure (literally) to get right. There may be some very slight clipping around some hat edges depending on the head shape, but these shouldn't be noticeable in normal gameplay.
I think this hair looks really cute on kids and wonder why EA only enabled the hair for women, and not for men and kids.
(Please note that I also tried to convert the medium afro for kids, but ran into too many problems, especially with the hat-chop meshes, to want to continue. Hence why I've only converted the big one.)
Recolouring: This hair uses the same texture as the original adult version, so you only need to extract the default texture for that hair to make recolours for this one.

Unzip the zip file and move the .package file to your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods folder.
