ATTENTION - This tool is NO LONGER UPDATED!

If you want to install a framework to your Ambitions, Fast Lane, Outdoor Living or Generations, just download this file: http://chii.modthesims2.com/FrameworkSetup.zip and extract it to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Thats it. Next time you load the game you wont see the intro - if you do, then you screwed something up.

For more help, please see http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...Setup_and_Files

I will no longer be offering support for this tool and it is now deprecated!

Operating System: Windows

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

*sigh* didn't solve the issue...

Well after reading the thread I must say I haven't found a solution to this issue, if I somehow missed it by all means remind me.

Anywho...

I just did a complete uninstall cleaned all leftover traces (registry included) & performed a clean re-install & update. I've recently downloaded monkeybars & following instructions I successfully installed the framework to both TS3 & both WA & High End Loft expansion packs. My issue is rather simple but I want to make sure I do this correctly. I know & understand we're supposed to install the .package files to "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages." However when I go to do so I don't have a Mods\Packages folder inside of my Sims 3 folder at all. Am I just supposed to make one & label it as such? Or was it supposed to auto-execute and create one on it's own? I'm not sure which, but it certainly didn't make one. Was there possibly something I missed? Or am I just making this harder than it sounds. I'm no stranger to tech so by all means explain away, no need to try & simplify it. Any & all help will be appreciated. ^^

Tai Kun: Running the Framework Installer should automatically made a Mods\Packages folder for you. It actually does check to see if that folder exists, and if not it flags it in red and reports the Framework is not installed. I do not know of a single instance where this has failed to work properly.

Worked for me I had some problems with my downloaded stuff and I read somewhere that I needed to reinstall frameworks but I couldn't figure out how. Then I remembered that I saw this program when I was searching for mods. I used it, and my new items worked Thanks!

I don't need the Resource.cfg and the mods folder in every EP folder, just the dll, right ? I find it confusing if it tells me my framework is not properly installed cause I'm missing that extra folders.

Maybe you could just make that as a warning instead of an error ?

Also, could you expand the window somehow that the whole error message is displayed ? I can read it if I put my cursor over it but it would be nice to see the whole error message inside the window.

crinrict: Experience tells me that having the Resource.cfg, Mod folders and dll is much better than only having the DLL - especially for newbies and people who say "But I don't have a Mods\Packages in my WA folder!!!". It saves a lot of hassle in the long run for many more people.

As for the window - well, considering error messages don't tend to get displayed that often, and most people are only concerned with the tick, it's not worth it to make the entire thing a lot bigger - especially when you can just drag the columns to resize as you want, and view more or less of the error message at will.

But even if you resize the column to the width of the window it's still not all visible. And I can't seem to resize the window

crinrict: But you can still hover the mouse to get the full message... and it's a one time thing. I just don't see that making the entire thing bigger for something the vast majority of people will never use or see is good.

airway: Download it again.

Thank you Delphy for your great work once again. The problem that I'm running into is the "can't install on 64bit system" with framework 2.0. I have WinRAR 64bit so that's not the issue. I don't know where to go from here.

virahnica24: Vista and Windows 7 come with .NET Framework 2.0 already. You don't need to install it seperately.

As embarrassing as this is I must say I found it... I had what some would call a "ditz moment." The entire time I was looking for it I was inside of the Electronic Arts folder that was located in my documents... I know full well that the mod folder is inside the Electronic Arts folder located inside C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. So why was I looking inside the Electronic Arts folder inside of My Documents? I have no idea... My apologies, I'm much better than that. Regardless once I realized where I was looking needless to say I checked, it was there & everything is working quite well. Thank you for your help. ^^

Maybe you did download the WinRAR 32 bit version?
I use the 64 bit version of WinRAR so maybe this helps.

(to Delphy)
The installer works great here, i have Sims 3 base and WA all up to date till patch 2.4
Also I like to complement you with the Sims3 dashbaord programma it has fixed a lot of problems for me.

(sorry for my crapy englisch but I'm from Holland)

I have WinRAR 64bit.
Do I need to reinstall or is there some setting I can change to resolve it?

virahnica24, thats not a WinRAR issue. Do you happen to have the game running or something?

Not when I try to install anything. I've even reinstalled it. I thought I gave it the permissions it needed but maybe I'm missing something. Also, should this be moved... I just realized that I was still in the framework section, not the installer helper. (sorry if so)

Ok, I have a HUGE question. I went to go download the framework and a message poped up that said, "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Could not load file or assembly 'MadScience/Helpers. Version=1.1.3693.39885. Culture=neutra;. PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies/ The system cannot find the file specified." I don't know what I did, I followed the directions you gave but I don't know what went wrong. This message popped up when I tried to open the framework using Winzip. Please HELP!!
