The Numenorean Hibernation Cell (Aspiration reward OR Buyable) - *UPD 08 NOV 2006*

This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
08 NOV 2006: ADDED BUYABLE VERSION. Many users asked me for a version of the Hibernator buyable from the catalog; at first I resisted, because I think it's a nice idea to have it as an aspiration reward. But anyway, if people want to buy it from the catalog, well, here is the buyable versio
NOTE: YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH! Choose either the Aspiration Reward OR the buyable version. The buyable version is attached to this post, in the archive "Hibernator_main_(BUYABLE).rar". Install it as usual (the QX works fine, too). Once installed it, the buyable Hibernator can be found in the normal Buy Mode catalog, in the section Misc/Misc, at a price of §15,500 (sorry, but you have to earn it anyway! ).

08 NOV 2006: Also ADDED a new "Glass" recolour made by CyberBob: it's more transparent then mine, and has a transparent base, too (not only the door).

11 SEPT 2006: FIXED the bug that caused the children to sit on the floor after exiting the Hibernator; also improved compatibility with other hacks involving beds by removing the categorizaton of the Hibernator as "bed".
Thanks to TwoJeffs for both bug-fixes.

21 JUNE 2006: Added Finnish translation (thanks Kissamies)

22 APR 2006: Added Spanish translation (thanks HarlotBoy) and Italian translation

27 DEC 2005: FIXED the "jump" bug that occurred when cancelling the "Hibernate" interaction while the sim was still walking toward the Hibernator.

You want to have 10 children and an entire life isn't enough? You want to meet your grand-grand-grand-nephew? Just take a "nap" into the Numenorean Hibernation Cell!

I'm very proud of this object (though it isn't perfect ), because it's definitely the project that I worked on for the longest time.
I've made a completely new animated mesh (created from scratch), heavily modified the BHAVs, edited and adjusted the animations, enabled the colour options... A special thanks to Inge Jones for having pointed me in the right direction with the BHAV that saves/restores the age of the sim.

The Hibernator functions: you can send your sims to hibernate for a chosen time (from 1 day to 1 month); the sim will enter the hibernator (obviously naked: have you ever been hibernated with your clothes on? ) and will stay there in life suspension: no aging, no needs, nothing! If you don't manually interrupt the hibernation, by deleting the action from the command queue, the sim will automatically "wake up" when the chosen time has finished.
The hibernator takes care of all the body's needs (all the stats will slowly increase during the hibernation); only drawback: the sims will feel lonely into the hibernation cell, and their "social" will slowly decrease; the more they stay in, the more they will need social interactions when they wake up.
I suggest to put the Hibernators in a quiet place: though hibernated, the sims don't like noise, music and such (a "thought balloon" will be displayed if a sound disturb them).

Installation: put the package(s) in the downloads folder. You will find the Hibernator among the Aspiration Rewards, not in the normal catalog!

Additional data
The objects that I've cloned, in order to create the Hibernator, were the cheap single bed and the coffin, though very little still remains of both of them.
The Hibernator works in every game, even without EPs, is recolourable, and is shipped in three colours: blue (default), pink and transparent glass.
The mesh is only 822 faces / 584 verts (= very low, for an object of these dimensions).
If you are going to create recolours for the "metal" cover, be sure to recolour the separate "plaque" texture".

Known bugs
I said it's not perfect
1) When the Hibernator is used by a child, the animation of the door isn't perfectly synchronized with the body movement, and the child's body sometimes peeks out of the door (this happens only when entering and exiting: the hibernation itself has no glitches).
2) FIXED (Was: As soon as the child exits the hibernator, he suddenly sits down to the floor; this happens in Nighlife only)
3) FIXED (Was: If you order a sim to hibernate and cancel the action before he reached the hibernator, an error occurs (the sim will "jump"); there's nothing to worry about, though).

Excellent Object! Thank you so much.
After some testing I did find a glitch, I put the hibernator in one of my sim's inventory and moved the family to another lot. then the hibernator became glitched, error dialog box popped up everytime i tried using it. I ended up had to get a new one.
It's not a big deal tho, not like im moving everyday or something
But may be you can look into it if you are bored heh

Great job Numenor! Another creative work! Thank you.

For Mac users...

Okay, there is a (sorta) easier way to open .rar files for OS X users. I have Tiger. When you get to the page with the funny symbols, (if in Safari), go to File>Save. Save it to the desktop as whatever file name comes up. Then open the Finder and find the file. Take out the .txt extention at the end so it is just .rar. A prompt will come up asking if you want to use .rar or .txt. Choose .rar and it should open in StuffIt.

Unfortunately, there's sorta a glitch with the Hibernation cell (at least on my Mac). Whenever the door closes when a Sim is inside, the door closes at the end of the cell and vertically, not over the Sim as it is supposed to. I don't know if this is a Mac thing or just my game.

I've never had such a glitch (I can't test my objects on a Mac, sorry...)

Anybody else have experienced the same animation problem?

Actually, it *IS* possible to force them to stay in. What you need to do is make it so that the interaction cannot terminate except if a specific object attribute is set. That way the interaction cannot be terminated by standard methods, and you'll need to include an "unlock" instant-command that will set the release attribute.

Also, for those of us who don't run in no-censor mode all the time, the censor blur of your naked sim will poke through even after the lid has been closed. What you want to do is unset the censor bits once the lid has been closed at the end of "Get In" (and remember that you did this), and assuming you did, re-set them at the beginning of of "Get Out" (it's important to remember whether or not you set/unset the bits for with/without compatibility).

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off.

I would like to thank Numenor for a great object and for giving me a project to work on when I was bored. I made a Cryogenic Freezer with it's own discription and 4 different colours(Silver, Blue Silver, Frosty, Red Silver). I have changed the interaction so that it says 'freeze for...' and the motive regeneration has been changed but not noticeably. I haven't uploaded it on any sites and would like Numenor's permission to upload it on MTS2. This is like a recolour project but theres a little more to it. It is my first project that I have really loved making because I put alot of care into the textures.

That's great! I just thought I'd ask for your permission before I post them incase you were against stuff like that...
I can't post them right now because the files aren't on this PC but the Freezing Cell will be available soon...

Wait, you mean that you have cloned my hibernator? I thought you were asking only because your freezer is similar (in its functions) to my hibernator: that's why I told you that you didn't need my permission. But if you have cloned the hibernator, then I'm sorry, but my answer is no: you can't post it (and you shouldn't have cloned it at all)...

Please confirm the exact nature of your freezer.

It's your hibernator but it has a different description, name and has different colours.
The interaction's are the same but on the pie menu it just says 'Freeze for..' instead of 'Hibernate for...'.
and by accident I have posted this BUT have plastered a huge warning across it saying not to download it.

The outgoing sims, too, get dressed automatically as soon as the go idle; if you queue many commands to the "Hibernate" one, the sim will perform the requested actions naked; and then they get dressed.

Could you possibly check-out Posts 15 & 16 on the following thread and let me know whether it would be possible to modify this object to enable what is being asked for? This would be amazingly useful for many people if you could, I think. (Won't bother explaining in great detail here, because it's all there in the thread). My original mention of what's being referred to is in Post 10, but basically I was asking for something that would put 'in limbo' Sims who had been to community lots until the time they should be returning - e.g., if they left at 9 am and were gone 8 hours, they shouldn't return until 5pm, not 9 am! I know a lot of people have been asking for something like this and although Maxis did ask whether people would like this option (for OFB, I thought), it hasn't materialised so far.

It would need slight variations in that their stats would need to stay the same (so they were the same as when they left the community lot) and also it would probably be best if they didn't have any reactions to anything, as technically they're not supposed to be there.

I think you'd be very popular if you could manage something like this. What I hate most about sending Sims to business lots, especially when I send couples or whatever, is that when they get back I've still got to play the entire day. Even better would be if somehow a pop-up came up just before 3pm to say "Your Sims are still at their business - do you want to hire a nanny until they return?" but I suppose that's expecting too much!

WHY DO SIMS NEVER EXPERIENCE A MID-LIFE CRISIS?
