LotAdjuster 2.8

Version 2.8 fixes a bug where the error "can't intersect other objects" can occur even when no such object exists.

Occupied Apartment Life apartments cannot be modified.

LotAdjuster 3.x
There is a new version of the LotAdjuster available here:
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=384656

Version 3.x allows you to adjust lots in lot-sized tiles, rather than neighborhood-sized tiles. This alternate version also allows you to shift buildings on a lot by expanding one side and shrinking the other. Several other bugs have been fixed in 3.x which remain in 2.x.

Version 2.8, which adjusts in hood-sized tiles, will remain available here. It's a bit easier to use, but provides less flexibility.

Description:
The LotAdjuster allows you to modify a "Sims 2" lot in a variety of ways, including:
- Enlarge a lot up to a size of 6x6, which is the EA-imposed TS2 limit.
- Enlarge a lot over the road; allow building on both sides of the road.
- Shrink a lot; allow building to within one tile of the edge of a lot; create pseudo rowhouses.
- Move a lot within a neighborhood; move a lot away from the road.
- Add and remove roads; create a roadless lot; create a lot with multiple roads: corner lot, alleyway, service road, square.
- Unlock tiles on a lot.
- Fix vehicle and pedestrian portal locations, as well as the location of the mailbox, trash can, and phone booth.
- Fix the edges of a lot: smooth, flatten, or match neighborhood terrain.
- Fix crashing beach lots. See this link for further details: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=3168813

This version of the LotAdjuster works with all expansion and stuff packs, up to and including The Sims 2 Mansion & Garden Stuff.

The LotAdjuster is the successor to the LotExpander: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=175884

Requirements:
- The LotAdjuster is released under the GNU General Public License.
- The program uses some DLLs from SimPE; they are included in the zip file.
- You need the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=20137

Installation:
To install, just download LotAdjuster.zip and unzip it. Run the EXE from the unzipped location. This is "alpha" software and is still in development; it is not guaranteed to work and may corrupt your lot. Be sure to backup your game before using this tool.

I have included the source code for version 2.8 in LotAdjusterSource.zip. There is no need to download this file unless you are a C# programmer who wishes to look at or modify the code.

I left the previous version (PreviousLotAdjuster.zip) available, in case there are any unforseen problems. There is no need to download this file.

Running under OS/X:
Please read this thread for information about running the LotAdjuster under OS/X:
http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=366580

Instructions:
At this time, there are no instructions available for the LotAdjuster; hopefully, some will be available soon. In the interim, please see the LotExpander instructions and substitute "LotAdjuster" for "LotExpander". The screenshots will be different than the LotAdjuster, but the basic method is the same.

Advanced options are changed by clicking the "Advanced" button on the lot information screen. Options in this category are more likely to require special handling. Be sure to test your lot thoroughly before sharing it.

If you have any problems with the new LotAdjuster, or if you have suggestions that you would like to see implemented, please let me know.

How to Help:
1) I'm trying to get together a list of "Search Keywords" for this post. I would appreciate people telling me what keywords they used to search for this program. This is especially useful if their initial search failed, since I can add these keywords to help other people find the LotAdjuster.

2) The LotAdjuster is a general purpose tool with a wide range of applications. The main thing that we need right now is tutorials on how to use the various features to create special types of lots. If you create a tutorial which is relevant, please post a link to your tutorial and I will include it here. Some of my thoughts on tutorials which might be helpful: http://www.modthesims2.com/showpost...82&postcount=48

Additional Credits:
This program is derived from the LotExpander, which was designed and developed by Andi8104. Without his work, the LotAdjuster would not exist.

Thank you to all of the people who helped to make this tool a reality, including aelflaed, baratron, ebonyspiral, ikbod, Inge Jones, ingeli, KariMinger, ladykatsim, Mutantbunny, niol, plasticbox, pljones, Quaxi, and Rascal.

I'm sure that I've forgotten some people, since so many people have helped with the development of this program. If you know of someone who's been missed, it was not intentional. Please let me know and I'll add them to the list.

Thank you a million times for releasing LotAdjuster 1.1!!
The only thing I noticed that seemed different from the previous version (if I remember well) after shrinking a lot: if I try to pick it up and replace it in neighborhood view I can't put it back down and have to bulldoze it, but if I enter the lot directly and exit again everything is just fine.
Image attached are the shrunken lots before entering.

Thanks again!

To finalise the changes made outside the game, you do have to enter the lot, make a structural change and save. Then, in neighbourhood view, you have to pick up the lot and re-position it. After that, everything should work as normal.

If you accidentally pick up the lot before doing that, press the ESC key to let it go back where it was.

Great, thank you! I had to bulldoze a couple of townhouses before I realized I had to enter the lot first!

It depends what you've done. For some purposes, picking the lot up and repositioning it would wreck everything (eg over-the-road and moved away from road lots, deliberately overlapping lots)

Well, yes, true enough. The main point was that you must enter the lot and make the structural change, or the lot doesn't re-set properly after using LA.

Omg
I'm suddenly having an issue with this.. lotadjuster wont display correctly.. It opens, and half of the screen is hidden behind the border of the window... Its like the window is too small for the lotadjuster screen, but the window is a fixed size! And only the EXIT button is visible. What do I do? I tried changing the resolution but it only does the same thing in different sizes.

i was wondering just what is the differnce between loAdjuster 1.1 & LotExpander for Free Time?

LotAdjuster has a lot more features. LotExpander is an older version which will only expand lots and nothing else.

Default Possible Solution to Truncated Window
Here is a potential fix for the issue with the LotAdjuster window being truncated. Please let me know if it solves your problems, or not:

I had increased the DPI settings to 125% of normal to make text easier for me to read.

You're absolutely right, I should have..

And it was in fact, the DPI, so once I reverted to default DPI settings, it showed up just fine.. Kinda hard to read tho, cuz I had changed it when I got this huge monitor lol

Hello Mootilda!
I am sorry, it is me again.

I expanded a lot from 4x4 to 4x6.. it seems good from first glance and I played on, nicely.. then I realize that one strip in the expanded area. Not the entire new area, cannot be placed on with things unless I use MoveObjects cheat, and when I used that cheat the stuff acts weirdy such as hedge cutting is impossible (throwing tantrum). Thanks of me having Moveobjects cheat on I didn't discover this booboo until long time after I've played in and I didn't want to revert to my backup. :P

I expanded the lot from 4x4 to 4x6 on the left, and then shrunk again to see if it got corrected. Now I have 4x5 and the leftmost 3 blocks wide strip is ok and placeable, and same thing on the strip closest to the "old" size (about 1-2 blocks wide), while in between there's this strip of blocks that you can't place on.

What's causing this and what can I do to remedy this?

Thank you, M!

Did you finish the size-change process properly?

you have to make a structural change (anythign from build mode really), save the lot, and then re-position it in the hood screen.

Just in case it's that easy.

I can't think of anything that the LotAdjuster does that would explain this behaviour. Is your terrain flat where you want to place the objects? Sometimes, if the terrain isn't flat, objects cannot be placed without moveobjects and sims can't use the objects properly once they are placed.

Is it possible that you have some invisible object on the tile? This could also explain what you're seeing.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything offhand. If you'd like to attach the lot to this thread, I can take a look at your lot and see whether I can find anything to explain this behaviour.

1st of all, were you trying to experiment LA with that lot you wanted to resurrect?

I can't run it, after I've upgraded to Windows XP SP3.
It says I need a special .NET Framework ?

I've used it, when I had SP2, and it was great (:

No, I haven't.. It wasn't necessary after I changed back to smaller font display.. When I said I couldn't read it, I meant because the monitor is bigger now, so the default DPI settings gives me really small letters lol, that was all..
I went ahead an downloaded it anyway, is it an update?

It is an update for 1.1, which may fix your problem. I'd like for the LotAdjuster to be accessible for people who want a larger font, so I changed the way that the LA sets the window size. I'm hoping that it fixes the problems that people have been having with truncated windows.

I'm sorry for the late answer... I somehow missed your post.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about XP SP3 and how it affects .NET. Did you try downloading .NET 2.0 from the link given in the first post? If you use SimPE, can you still run it?

Is anyone else using the LotAdjuster with XP SP3... perhaps you could help?

Has anyone come across this error message:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to contine. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not load file or assembly 'simpe.package, Version=1.0.2990.38590, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Now, I don't know much when it comes to mod programs, but I would assume that this is telling me that there is an issue with simpe, however I can load up SimPE without any problems.
