This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Well this took me a while, nothing was easy and I needed to teach myself lots of new things - but here they are!

PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING:

- The animations are in a separate package, don't forget to install it in the same folder!
- These should work with any version of the game
- Each stairs style has a left turn and a right turn version, only the left turn version is recolourable, but the right turn version will use the recolours (repository method)
- The stairs will show with the straight staircases; the thumbnails are off-center but I don't think there's anything I can do about it.
- Objects placed under the stairs will be useable; the downside is that sims will walk through it if no object blocks the way. Now this is easily fixable with an invisible fence.
- The animations work for all ages, sims will use only the regular speed and walk style though; I don't want to spend another 2 months making the rest on top of my job... Now, running in spiral stairs would be a really stupid thing to do
- No pets animations: since we can't use the pets models in Milkshape (yet), I just blocked the animations for them; same for ghosts, I have no issue with them just materializing up and downstairs.
- The stairs are stackable, and the bottom tile is in a weird position so it doesn't interfere with doors in stairwells. Still, a door should be placed facing the bottom step or it will always open the wrong way, except on the last level.

4 VERSIONS:

- Simple wood stairs without railing, 5 wood colours included in the "left" package
Price: 99

- Wood and iron stairs with railing, 3 wood colours included, and 3 matching fences.
Price: 999

- Concrete square stairs without railing, 4 stucco/stone colours included + 1 reflective marble, and 5 matching fences.
Price: 699

- Death Trap Deluxe, without railing or center post, for your most reckless sims: white, bright green and red recolours included
Price: 299

Policy : NO PAYSITES, NO EXCHANGE - These can be included in lots with a link back here. If you want to clone the stairs, please contact me.

OMG! Just... um. I have been wanting spiral stairs and while there are plenty out there, I missed the actual animations to match and it always ended up being a detractor in my game. Thank you for spending the large amounts of time to do this.

I absolutely love the stairs. I tested the wooden ones in my game and I was simply flabberghasted by the animations. i've seen round strairs, which attempt at keeping the sim on the stair. But yours are totally accurate, the sim stays completely in the middle of the step as they walk up.

Keep up the wonderful work.

No scripts required, these stairs were cloned from base game straight stairs

Thank you all for the lovely comments!!

Sure I allow cloning them, in fact I'd happily beg for new models and provide tips (angles and such) to make it easier! As with all my stuff I very selfishly made something I wanted in my game, but I'm not an object mesher and it was a pain to come up with decent models - so please somebody make more!!

Oh and in the uploading rush and trauma I forgot some credits, sorry for that...
So I need to credit Targa, I first cloned his Ascension Squared and even if I finally chose another base file and used a slightly different method, the way he solved the intersection issues was a huge help.
Thank you to Hysterical Paroxysm too, for pointing out that doors got stuck in use when placed right next to some objects - I would have spent some time figuring out that one
Also, the beautiful seamless textures I used for the concrete version are royalty free textures from Spiralgraphics; all the rest is Maxis butchered stuff

So, when I saw the thumbnail and description for these stairs, the first words out of my mouth were:

Marvine, you ROCK!

Thank you so much for these; I hate how much space normal stairs take up.

I wonder if you would have time (or someone else who feels like trying out the technique) to take my winding and half-landing stairs and make animated versions? At the moment sims just zip between the top and bottom. They're at http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2P...ims2_Stairs.htm if you want to take a look.
