Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
I originally created these for my own use, since I play using a huge (hundreds of sims) neighborhood, in which I have a ton of sims from the Harry Potter world. I know of three excellent Harry Potter careers already, but, as Sirius Black says, the world isn’t divided into Death Eaters and Order of the Phoenix members, and I needed something for everyone else to do. I tried to make it so there wasn’t too much overlap between this and the other three careers that I know about (the HP1 and HP2 careers in the Harry Potter Project and a Hogwarts career), so if you play with those, these shouldn't be too redundant.

There’s one career based off of positions in the Ministry of Magic, one based off of random other careers in the HP world, and one based off of shopkeeping posts in Diagon Alley. I’ve playtested them for a while and I think I’ve got all the kinks worked out (no $1,000,000 bonuses when it should have been $1000, etc.). Of course, if I haven't, please let me know so I can fix.

This is my first time ever creating anything for the Sims. All chance cards for all 10 levels for all careers are complete. Reward for all three is the teleprompter, and they all use the same custom witch hat icon. I've uploaded them separately so you can pick and choose, or all together so you can grab all three at once. I hope you enjoy these.

Descriptions:

Ministry of Magic Career
1. Junior Assistant: $125, M T W Th F.
You're starting at the Ministry assisting one of the Junior Undersecretaries to the Secretary who works for the Head of a Division who works for a Minister who works for the Minister of Magic...well, you get the picture. You've got a long way to go, and your job description is a combination of owl and house-elf, but at least you've got your foot in the door.

2. Department of International Magical Cooperation: $212, M T W T Sa
Checking cauldron bottoms, dealing with illegally imported carpets, receiving "soil samples" from Norway...ah, the joys of International Magical Cooperation. You sit in your office, dreaming of the possibilities of another Triwizard Tournament, or at least of a promotion. Work on your mechanical skills to advance.

3. Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office: $486, M T W Th F
Biting teapots, disappearing keys, exploding toilets...you're working with Muggle artifacts that have been illegally enchanted. It's rather fun, but doesn't pay much, and you'd like to move on to bigger and better things. Work hard, and someone just might notice.

4. Department of Magical Sports: $573, M T W Th F
This is more fun than your last department - you get paid to test-ride racing broomsticks, watch Quidditch matches (to make sure everything is fair, you know), and you can always get tickets to the League Cup. Can this posting last forever?

5. Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures: $746, M T W Th F
You've got a promotion. It's not as fun as the Department of Magical Sports, but it is more meaningful work. You're working in the Department for Care and Control of Magical Creatures (Beast and Being Divisions), which means wandering with werewolves, hanging out with house-elves, and occasionally dealing with an errant hippogriff or people who've broken the Ban on Experimental Breeding (and their creatures.)

6. Obliviator: $829, M W F Sa Su
Um...what was your job description again? As an Obliviator, you erase the memories of Muggles who happen to see magical activity. Don't forget to work on your logic and keep up relationships - it could lead to bigger and better things.

7. Unspeakable: $958, T Th F Sa Su
You could tell your friends what you do, but then you'd have to Obliviate them. As an Unspeakable, you do top-secret magical research on such profound things as Love, Death, Time, and Memory. Work out and practice your logic to see if you can't move on to a job you can actually talk about.

8. Auror: $1246, Th F Sa Su
You've got one of the most prestigious jobs at the Ministry - an Auror, the top law enforcement agents in all of Britain. You protect the world from Dark, dangerous wizards, and you do it with style. And remember....CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

9. Chief Wizard/Witch of the Wizengamot: $1568, M T W Th
Your concern with justice has led you from the Auror Department to the Department of Magical Law. Sitting in the Wizengamot, you ensure that justice is dealt out fairly to every magical creature accused of any transgression. If you work a little harder, who knows where you might end up?

10. Minister of Magic: $2025, M T W Th
You've made it to the top, becoming the most distinguished Minister of Magic in living memory (not that it was really that difficult, given some of your predecessors.) You're in charge of the entire magical community, supervising each and every one of the departments you used to work in. Congratulations!

Wizarding World Career
1. Wizarding Portraitist: $86, M Th F Sa Su
You've just graduated from Hogwarts. You got quite a few high-grade N.E.W.T.s, but instead of doing something respectable, like your parents wanted, you decided to set off on your own trying to make it as a starving artist. Painting portraits for whoever wants them, you think you're a pretty good artist...but maybe you ought to find something that pays a little more, since you do like eating.

2. Wizarding Photographer: $105, M T W Th F
Playing around with your camera in your off-hours has paid off, and you've got a job at the Daily Prophet taking pictures of anything and everything that might be considered newsworthy. If you could be just a little more creative, you might just start to get writing the articles.

3. Reporter for the Daily Prophet: $322, M T W Th F
Scandal at the Ministry, the race to the League Cup, delicious tidbits of gossip that may or may not be true...you cover it all. You've got a cameraman of your own following you around, and you get letters from people who read your column, making you feel like you're almost famous.

4. Wizarding Wireless Network Commentator: $418, Th F Sa Su
You're the voice of Wizard radio! You play the latest recordings by every Wizarding music group from the Weird Sisters to Celestina Warbeck, report the news (you know, the news you used to write), and generally add your own commentary. It doesn't pay much better than reporting, but you don't have to dress up - after all, who's going to see you?

5. Wizarding Naturalist: $532, M W F Sa Su
An extended bout of laryngitis forced you to quit your job as a commentator for the WWN. While you were searching for work, a friend let you know about an opportunity for a more outdoorsy job. You've signed on with a team of naturalists, looking for new species of magical creatures. It involves lots of travel, and, while it's a lot different than anything you've done before, you really think you like it. If only you could find a nargle or two...

6. Unicorn Preserve Specialist: $746, M T W F
You've grown tired of field work (besides, you never could find that nargle) and you've decided you'd like to work with creatures you know exist instead of trying to find the ones that might not. Unicorns seemed like a safe bet, and now you're caring for them in an Unplottable preserve.

7. Dragon Preserve Specialist: $971, M W Th F
You decided you'd like to work with something a little more dangerous, so you transferred from the unicorn preserve to a dragon preserve. You're working with Welsh Greens, trying to keep the population numbers up without being eaten. Keep on your toes or beware - nobody likes ending up in St. Mungo's with full-body burns.

8. Healer: $1228, M T W Th
You finally did end up in St. Mungo's with severe burns, which made you decide that perhaps it was time for a job change. While in the hospital, the thought came to you - helping people, helping dragons, it's not that much different. So you left your job in the Welsh wilderness for one in the middle of London, putting on the lime green robes of a Healer. At St. Mungo's Hospital, you see everything from people with anything from biting shoes to scrofungulus, and you get to treat them all. You have to be good at a myriad of subjects to succeed, so keep your skills sharp - who knows what else you can do?

9. Hogwarts Professor: $1537, M T W Th F
Your work in St. Mungo's attracted the attention of the current Headmaster of Hogwarts, who needed a replacement Potions professor. You agreed, and now you work at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, dealing with hordes of students who can't tell Felix Felicis from the Draught of Living Death. At least you seem like a more popular professor than the last one.

10. Magical Me!: $2098, T W Th
Retiring from teaching, you decided to take it easy for a while. But, while relaxing in your comfortable retirement, you were approached by a publisher who was sure that your fascinating life could sell thousands of books. You agreed to write your memoir, only to discover that he was right! The story of your life becomes a best-selling biography, spanning from your lowly origins to the heights of your successes. You're famous, making public appearances and attending book signings across the country. Hurrah!

Diagon Alley Career
1. Borgin and Burke’s: $95, M T W Th F
You're fresh out of school and have your first job, working in a dodgy place in Knockturn Alley. There are some pretty interesting items in Mr. Borgin's shop, even if some of them do give you the heebie-jeebies. Work on your Creativity and Cleaning, and maybe you can get a job in Diagon Alley proper.

2. Quality Quidditch Supplies: $124, M T W Th F
Finally! Out of Knockturn Alley and into Diagon Alley, your new job involves selling all the newest brooms, Quidditch robes, and broom repair kits. It doesn't pay much more than Mr. Borgin did, but at least you don't have to deal with severed hands or cursed jewelry.

3. Magical Menagerie: $237, M T W Th F
Owls, Crups, Kneazles, Puffskeins, ravens, rats, fire crabs, Streelers, bunnies...the Magical Menagerie sells all these animals and more. It's very crowded, noisy, and more than a little messy, but if you spend enough time cleaning out those cages and perfecting your sales technique, you might find a better job.

4. The Leaky Cauldron: $369, M Th F S Su
Waiting tables, cooking, changing linens...it wasn't really your idea of a great time, but it's got to be better than cleaning owl cages and dealing with cranky animals. At least the customers don't bite.

5. Madam Malkin’s: $528, M T W Th F
Robes galore! Dress robes, school robes, casual robes, even wedding gowns...you sell it all. You're not bad at tailoring, either. Work on your Charisma to find a better position.

6. Apothecary: $627, M T W F
You were always pretty good in Potions, so when a spot in the Apothecary opened up, you jumped at it. The shop is just as messy as the Magical Menagerie and smells twice as bad, but the work is absolutely fascinating: you advise customers on what they need to buy to make their potions work and deal with rare herbs and animal parts that you'd never see otherwise.

7. Gringotts: $746, M T W F
The smell finally got to you, so you moved out of the Apothecary and into a comfortable job working at Gringotts. You get to help customers deposit and retrieve their money, check the countertheft curses, and change money for Muggleborns heading back into the Wizarding world (or wizards making attempts to change Galleons into pounds.) The downside is, you have to deal with goblins all day.

8. Flourish and Blotts: $942, M T W Th F
After a while, the goblins finally did get to you (not to mention the underground vaults were a little scary.) When a managerial position opened up at Flourish and Blotts, you took it. Not only does it pay more than clerking at a bank, you get to spend all day surrounded by books. Books that talk, books that walk, books that bite...well, maybe it's not all good, but you really are enjoying it. What could be better?

9. Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes: $1338, Th F Sa Su
What could be better than books? Practical jokes! Muggle magic tricks, Pygmy Puffs, Portable Swamps, Nosebleed Nougat, and every prank every student at Hogwarts could ever hope to use. Your boss is awesome, you get a discount on all the merchandise, and every day is loads of fun. Where can you go from here?

10. Ollivander’s: $1664, M T W Th
To your surprise, you finally did grow tired of the joke shop. Just when you thought there was nowhere left in Diagon Alley for you to go, you struck up a conversation with old Mr. Ollivander. The last member of the Ollivander family, he wants to retire, but has no one to train to take over for him. He takes a liking to you and decides to make you his successor. A shop of your own, a decent salary, and significant prestige as the only wandmaker in Britain: after a long career working for other people, nothing could be better.

Post modified 11/18: Bolded career names to make reading the job descriptions easier.

Post modified 11/19: reuploaded All3Careers file and Wizarding World career because of a minor spelling error in two chance cards (Barnabas Cuffe's name was misspelt as "Barnabus" in two instances.) You can re-download if you want; I'm really sorry about the error. If anyone else finds anything else, please let me know.

Oh, I only have base game and Open for Business if that matters.

I always put them in my download folder, and they show up just fine.

Sadly, I don't think it'll work in the Chinese version - it's definitely borked in the Korean and Polish versions, and I have a feeling that goes for all non-English versions of the game.

But if someone who's bilingual wants to do a translation of the career, I'll happily supply all information (chance cards, descriptions, career file, etc.).

I dunno why, but careers don't work on my game.
I have the Sims 2 Double Delux - with Nightlife, Seasons, and Mansion & Garden stuff.
And basically I installed these careers and then the teen HP careers, but when I have someone go and look for a job in the computer or newspaper, they're all the default careers.
I extracted all of the files into the correct folder for custom content, so I'm not sure of what went wrong.
Helpplz? :P

Doesn't in my game (they're all custom GUID-ed.) As noted above, I can't speak for issues involving international versions of the game, tight pants, etc.

I'm in bilingual class! I would love to translate the careers into Dutch, because I want them in my game as well! So could you please explain and give or whatever anything that I need?

Be happy to; I can either try to PM you the text, or, if you can PM me your e-mail address, I can e-mail it in a Word document (probably easier; I think that's what I ended up doing for wampirencja when she wanted to do Polish versions.) Or, if you'd prefer, you can just download the files and open them in SimPE to get the information out (very easy if using Bidou's career editor.)

Also, if you'd like to wait a while, lientebollemies has made me some more custom icons, and I'll be re-releasing these 3 careers along with some new ones as soon as I can get all the chance cards written up (I was originally thinking that there would be 7 in the set...may end up being more, though.)

Anyhow, probably better to PM me about it than write in this thread, which I haven't been checking at all for months.

Hi! Cuz I read there were problems with playing it in different languages, I decided to slightly adjust the "Diagon Alley Career" so it can played on whatever language you installed on your computer (see attached file).

Only thing is; they're all still in English.. I am currently working on the Dutch translation though! And I might make the other 2 compatible as well.

@ Julieryc: If you want to upload this file as your DiagonAlley file, it's all good by me! Also, I'll message you again when I've also included the Dutch translation
