Testers wanted: Castle kitchen set *updated jan 17, 2007*

This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.

***Update jan 17, 2007***
The medieval stove is now recolorable.
Thanks to amjoie and IB for pointing out it wasn't

hello,
here's a predictably medieval themed kitchen set for ya
The hearth is based on photo's of a reconstructed medieval kitchen, and then simplified
The oven to me kinda looks like an italian pizza oven, but maybe that's just me Based on what I think is a woodcut. Don't know if it's authentic though.
My thanks goes to besen, who again has taken the time to translate all my silly texts to german.

ok, I've got way too much to say, so bear with me and read everything carefully before downloading.
All of the following was made with varying combinations of Blender3d, SimPE 0.4, UVMapper, and Paint shop.
They should work with both versions of the game, unless stated otherwise.
All meshes come with catalog entries for Dutch, German and French. Everyone else gets English.

Legals:
The meshes: Feel free to recolour, hack, fiddle with these and post your work. Just give a link to the original mesh here and tell me all about it. Please don't post the actual mesh anywhere without asking me first.
The recolours: I have no idea why anyone would want to steal these :err: Just don't.
Please don't put any of the above in a downloadable lot. We don't want to scare unsuspecting players.

Package 1: appliances, contains

The hearth (barbeque)
Price: 750
Poly count: 1773
The game thinks this is a one-tile object. That means you can put stuff under the 'hood', like I did with the cauldron in the screenshot. The little cauldron is part of the mesh.
Known issue: Spontaneous combustion. Some people commented on this. After testing again I think I figured out what caused it. It seems that maxis made all barbeques catch fire if they are used indoors. Since the hearth is cloned from what is essentially an outdoor bbq, it's not healthy to use it indoors. I'll see if I can hack it, or find someone to hack it for me. Untill then, keep the hearth outside or keep an extinguisher near

The oven (stove)
Price: 650
Poly count: 338 (ridiculously low)
Known issue: 'Invisible door syndrome'. Simmies keep opening things that aren't there.

Package 2: Waste bucket

This was just made for fun
The waste bucket is a trash can (duh)
Price: 40
Polys: 358

Package 3: Recolours

The dining set are recolours of the Contempto Penn Station side chair and the Myne Cafeteria Table (uni needed for this)
I added a matching counter, recoloured from the Locker room counter (uni again)
And because it looks so good, there's also a recolour of JWoods Panrack. You'll need the mesh for that, get it here:http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70717
That's four very different things in one package. The package names should tell you which is which, if you want to chuck some out.

The waterbutt
Price: 460
Poly's: 516
This one again suffers from Invisible Taps Syndrome *sigh*

Also in the package: a recolour for the waterbutt and a matching waste bucket in a darker wood.

Package 5: Mortar and pestle
as requested
a converted food processor
Price: 210
Poly's: 752

I went a bit mad with the recolouring bit, so next to the default black stone one, you get: Red, Durango, Orange, Pink, Olive, White, Green and Ostrich, all in pretty stone textures (see screenshot)

Screenies:

There's some other of my stuff in the screenies (subtle aren't I )
The big cauldron is here: http://forums.modthesims2.com/showt...?t=72554&page=1
The fire alarm is here: http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=69615

Right, enjoy

Is anyone else getting an error using the stove to "make many" with OFB? I am trying to determine if it is just my game or because of my other custom content, or if the oven won't work with that action.
The message I got was Error: Reference to tree table entry that does not exist. The stack trace is saved in "E:/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Logs/ObjectError_N006_t4498.txt".
I know Lethe_s put a lot of hard work into it, so I am keeping the oven regardless, but I'm just curious.

EDIT: Ok, I tested it out and just built a new home and got the make many to work with a standard oven with no custom content on. Then I tried with custom content back on. After making many several times I put in Lethe_s' oven and it DID work. I deleted the garbage disposal and dishwasher to see if it would effect the ability to make many but it did not. There must be something in the houses I built before installing OFB that is making it so it won't work. So I guess its a false alarm. Sorry about that.

A fix for the grill setting things on fire is Carrigon_SafeIndoorGrillOFB.package which can be found in Carrigon's section over at Sims2Workshop.com , or if some one were really talented they could take the Image of the grill and impose it over a stove, seems to me someones done that somewhere, but I can't remember where...any way, hope this helps.

Without a doubt, this is the best medieval kitchen I've found. The mortar and pestle, hearth and oven are fabulous! Thank you for sharing. I use them all the time with my medieval sims. Does anyone happen to know of any recolours out there?

Let me know if you use any of my recolors in a story, video, etc. I'd like to see it!

I love this set, and I want to upload a lot which contains some of the items, I'll include the meshes in the pack with credit to you and a link back to this thread if you don't mind. I've got too much stuff from sites that don't allow their meshes and I have to link back to all of them... thank you in advance!!!

Although you have a great idea, apparently the custom content didn't show up in my game. Also I encountered file corruption when I was trying to extract from the waterbutt's file using Windowsrar. Is there anything you can do?

slar,
if WinRAR finds a file corruption, that usually means the file didn't download properly.
Try redownloading the waterbutt.
If the content doesn't show up, please refer to the Download FAQ (http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php...Custom_Content).
This set has been tested for, well, years, so it does work

I assume since this was made in 2005 that the trash bin isn't updated for Seasons?

I love to have my sims compost, and many CC trash bins/compactors simply don't have the option, so I end up not using them. I mean, I can have them "take out trash," then canel the action and compost the pile, but that's a bit annoying. lol

Just pointing this out, but if anyone has University Life, install a sprinkler right over fire-prone ovens. This douses it very quickly and with minimal damage. All you have to do afterwards is clean up the puddles
