Certainly it's misunderstanding - 'pirogi' is the same as pies, they are fried in oven, not boiled.
Я, вообще-то, тоже украинка, о чем даже в профайле написано и мне страшно интересно, в какой части Украины вареники называют пирогами 8-) Пироги жарят, а не варят.

Is anyone else having a problem installing the cherry dumplings? All of the other objects that I downloaded installed correctly. But, for some reason...I can not get the cherry dumplings to work right. By the way, these are amazing!

Even though "пироги"("pirogi") means "pies" in Russian, Digitalangyl is right: the best translation of Russian "vareniki" in English is "pierogi" (at least in the States.) Pierogi is a Polish dish, pretty much the same as vareniki. I know it sounds kind of weird to a Russian native speaker, but it's true.

Anyway, excellent job, everything looks really authentic and delicious.

Hmmm, burned dumplings, that reminds me of something... whoa, kitchen on fire! Gotta go.

These look lovely in game.. and fit perfectly in my medieval hood, where they certainly can use some nice khokloma-stuff. I mean, the sushi-food does NOT fit there, hehe.
Greetings from Stockholm, from someone that lived in Moscow for 3 years and certainly know what these delicate things taste like IRL :D

My Russian is not so great, so you have to forgive me. However, it's not so much a misunderstanding as it is a regional dialect. Vereniki and pyrohy are the same, essentially.
Milenki pyrohy are made with plain dough, stuffed with cabbage, cherries, potato, buckwheat (etc) and boiled. As with vereniki.
The pie that you mentioned can also be called pirogi, and is made with raised dough and baked in the oven, it's also much larger.
Either way, we both know which is which, regardless of what we call it. But in America, vereniki, or milenki pyrohy would be called pierogies.

I noticed that Dumplings (both) can be cook at Breakfast too. You said its only at Lunch and Dinner. Anyway, this is still a great download. Thanks.

The discussions of perogie/dumpling/vereniki had me laughing as it reminded me of when I first moved to the southern states and was asked what kind of "dressing" I liked with my turkey, after thinking long and hard about it I though that ranch would go alright with it or perhaps italian... I recieved a sweet but bemused smile from my host who then asked me if cornbread dressing would be alright as she didn't have a recipe for any italian dressing. I could only respond with ..."oh yeah cornbread stuffing is great too!" while kicking myself under the table. That being said because it just really made me laugh to see that I'm not the only one to get confused over the whole rose by any other names thing... I absolutely love these dishes, everything is just so well done, they must have taken forever to create....

Just one question though... do you know where I might find the real life version of the recipies? hehehe... sad sad world when your digital you eats better than the real you...

lazzybum, are you sure you downloaded and unpacked not just dumplings, but also both bowls (from OBJ_bowlshohlomaJasana.rar)? Sounds like you didn't, thus interaction is aborted when it fails to create a bowl.

What is semolina? What's in it? I've heard of it before, but I have no idea what it is.

These Russian food packs are very interesting! I like learning about other cultures.
