This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Update Jan. 28, 2015:

It has come to my attention that the All EPs version is causing the game to crash, so I'm uploading a new version. The new lot is for All EPs, but I am only including the wall files with the lot. It will be up to you to download and add other custom content, since I'm not sure if it was custom content that caused the problem with the lot. For best results, download the new Updated All EPs version or the No EPs version.

This was a requested lot. I have no personal experience with recording studios, so I hope it is fairly realistic-looking. A single sim or a couple could use this as a recording studio home business, or it could be changed to a community lot. It should work well as a venue. Without OFB you could still get some money for tips, and/or you could put in pay doors and a pay buffet such as those from Simlogical.

3x2 residential lot - $210K ($106K for No EP Version)

1 bedroom
1 bath

Downstairs is the business part of the lot to include:
2 public restrooms
"green room" -- reception, living, kitchen and eating area
"control room"
"drum booth"
"vocal booth"
"live room"

Compatability Notes: I was able to build the No EP version of this lot thanks to Numenor's BaseGameStarter *PRO* program. The "All EP" Version requires all EP's and Stuff Packs (except Glamour Life). Please read this: If you don't have all the stuff packs, you may be able to install the ALL EPs version using Clean Installer.

If you have Nightlife (but not all the EP's) and want to add a driveway and extensions, here is a picture of the layout using the moveobjects on cheat:

You would then use an invisible recolor of the driveway pieces by roddyaleixo.

This lot was scanned with Clean Installer and is free from any hacks.

Included Custom Content:

Beveled Wood Paneling by HeartDeco
other walls made by me or cloned from Maxis walls

CC Not Included:

Ownable Limousine by Numenor

Retro Microphone V & Retro Microphone T by cokenasmile

gold records -- I can't identify who made the ones I used or where I downloaded them, but there are are 2 sources for gold records you can get here on MTS2:

by maree464
and by Living Dead Girl

house number set by Sup@tramp

Grand Piano & Music Stand by Zita at Aussie Topenders (set is halfway down the page of New Mesh Sets in Objects)

ClassicMusicRoom recolors by hopebayler

Round Rug by !Birgit43 for Sims

Music Room Rug recolor by hopebayler

HugeLunatic has a repository version of Bluetexasbonnie's round rug here and a piano recolor by HugeLunatic is here

Towel Rack by Yggdrasil

Invisible Driveway & Extensions by roddyaleixo

Many thanks to the talented and generous modders and creators listed above.

After installation, the sidewalk and driveway can be fixed using the moveobjects on cheat and placing tiles as shown:

Number of bedrooms: 1 Bedroom
Custom Content Included: Build content only Build and Buy Mode Content
Furnishings: Fully Furnished
Special Flags: Home Business

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Wonder work! It's refreshing to see something that was created without much cc. Both the exterior and interior look amazing! The computer room is my favourite.

Really great! My local garage band, The Toe Jams, will have to scrape some money together to rent some studio time.

TS2 and TS3: Where adult sims potty train their toddlers.
TS4: Where adult sims make Angry Poops.

I tried to d/l the cc per your links, but some of them result in 404 Not Found errors

I also tried to d/l some of the other cc needed to make this studio work, but I'm not having any luck.

Here are recolors of aussietopenders musicrooms meshes, I recolored the colors in this room as you can see are black, white and silver. The paintings are recolors of maxis lady on red. A Special thanks to aussietopenders for allowing us all to recolor their great creations. And also just to remind you, you need to follow the link and get the meshes for this room to work.

The link is dead

Do you have any ideas for substitute content please?

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to comment and for all your kind words. It really means a lot to me.

patul -- Sadly, no news from Rincewind. Glad to see you are a Pratchett fan as well, though.

PhantasyGurl -- I will add community lot versions soon. That's a good idea.

Gaza, you're right. I just am in such a habit of using the invisible recolor that I forget. But I do prefer to use it because it also allows the lines on the pavement to show through.

Simosity -- sorry that the Aussie Topenders link didn't work. I'm getting the same problem, but I think the site just down temporarily.

MiniMimi -- thanks for sharing a link to another grand piano.

P.S. I failed to mention in my upload post that the control room will not really work as advertised -- with the karaoke machine in that spot. (although it looks good there for pics and can be moved back there using moveobjects on and boolprop snapobjectstogrid false) In the packaged lot, it is moved into the vocal booth, where there is enough room for it, plus it makes more sense to have people singing in the booth instead of stomping around and waving in the control room.

See my blog for my very latest lots, including some that are not available on MTS2: Twoflower's Sims 2 Lots. Also, see what's happening in Apple Grove, my Prosperity Challenge neighborhood.

Actually (and unfortunately), I recently heard that they've closed permanently.

They'll certainly be missed.

Does this mean that those of us who don't have the cc from them can't dl this gorgeous studio? That would be a shame.

I love how you used the elevated floor to create the roof. It's very modern. It's stunning in its simplicity. Congratz.
