Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Nightlife, OfB, and Seasons required.
Custom content included: Open Underneath Steadfast Stairs by crocobaura
Custom content required: Invisible Driveway by roddyaleixo

If you want to install the stairs properly, please follow the directions given in the thread linked above. This lot will work just fine if you don't, but you won't be able to select or change the stairs or use them in other lots (they won't show up in the catalogue, which is what the installation procedure is for).

For sims that are sick of living in the suburbs, Backdoor Lane provides an alternative: a couple of small town lots with a more urban look and feel. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, creating a maze of backyard gardens and interconnected alleyways when placed in a tightly spaced neigbourhood. Most of them work as corner lots as well as facing the street, creating a very different impression depending on how you place them and what's on the lot next door.

Backdoor Lane 40
Suitable for a large household, this is furnished for up to 3 sims but can sleep a lot more -- 5 empty spare rooms, 3 of them suitable as double bedrooms, and an attic and basement as well that could be converted into yet more living space. Balcony on the top floor, bits of greenery in front and back, parking for three cars behind the house, cars included.

This will probably lag slower computers and/or blur the textures somewhat -- turning off visible neighbours usually helps me with the latter.

1 x double bedroom
1 x single bedroom
3 x bathroom (all furnished)
1 x kitchen/dining/living room
1 x living room
1 x basement (access through the kitchen; empty)
1 x attic (used as storage space)
5 x spare room (empty)

The spare room next to the kitchen would make a good nursery I think. The mailbox is probably in a stupid location if you play the house from back right (like on the overview screenshots), but I think it would work from front right just as well. And on the screenshots it looks like I forgot the burglar alarm and trash compactor.

Thank you:
This collection (frillen) as well as this one (loba) and that one (windkeeper), the mini lots by Andi8104 and the ones based thereupon (MaryLou) have been very useful in making the Backdoor Lane neighbourhood. Thanks for making them available, as well as for the driveway and stairs that I've used in this lot.

Please don't PM me with neighbourhood terrain requests (look in the Neighbourhoods section instead), downloading issues (I can't help you -- look in Site Issues, Q-XPress forums etc), or Build Mode questions (general questions go here, lot specific questions in the d/l thread). Thanks.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file.

3. Install: Double-click on the .sims2pack file to install its contents to your game. The files will automatically be installed to the proper location(s).
  • You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

Very good work again. Good to know that I have chosen a big downtown area, so more can follow!

St. Louis urban areas such as a neighborhood called The Hill. thanks for all of these lots.

I love this lot! I put it in my French village twice and redid it just a bit each time.

I really love all of your houses and have downloaded every single one of the Backdoor Lane lots (that weren't test lots), leaving thanks along the way. They're wonderful and often on the non-starter lots I never feel the need to change anything--be it furniture, fixtures, landscaping, or layout.

That said, the only problem I seem to have with any of your lots, is occasionally on some of them--especially the ones with the more creative roofing--the roofs will show up through the floors or walls. It occurs within this lot (Backdoor Lane 40 -- City House) and others. If this problem is unfamiliar, I can test it further and provide a few screenshots plus a list of all the Backdoor Lane lots in which it occurs. Or it may just be singular to myself and I may just have to re-download and re-install, I'm not sure. I thought I'd mention it just in case there was something you could suggest.

Thank you so much for continuing to contribute to MTS2, I really enjoy everything you've done so far and look forward to more.

you mean that in this house, on the top floor you can see the roof bits that are on the same floor (the steep part of the roof, in other words)? If that's what you mean, this is simply how the game works -- you have to play with roof down, then you don't see it.

Ah, okay. I can totally live with playing with the roof down, that's no problem. I was concerned about them possibly blocking Sims from their destinations, but if simply playing without the roofs makes it both technically and visually a non-issue then I'm happy!

Thank you very much for your help.
