The Sims 3 Identity Generator (Updated 8/5/2010)

Online mode is no longer available, because of FakeNameGenerator's updated Terms of Service.
I may add support for it in the future.

Generate a full name and possible occupation based on gender, nameset and country. I see some people are getting confused on what this does; but, it's just a random name generator to give you ideas and it doesn't replace in-game names.

If the application cannot access the Internet (fakenamegenerator.com) it will switch to Offline mode so it will still be usable.

Make sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed to be able to use it.

Report any problems and suggestions you have.

Update 6/25/09: You could probably run this software on Mac or Linux. Just install and run the program under Mono and post in the comments if it works for you

Update 7/21/09: Updated to version 1.1, see changelog below.

Update 7/28/09: Updated to version 1.1a, see changelog below.

Update 9/12/09: Updated to version 1.1b, see changelog below.

Update 1/10/10: Updated to version 1.2, see changelog below.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Just to make sure I'm not missing anything, is this just a name generator for naming creations, or is there more to it?

It's a name generator, ms_arbez. The website it uses was designed to produce false information for testing customer databases and the like, and is actually very good.

This is name generator. Thanks, there's many names, but I always forget when it needed, this program is very useful.

I thought it was a ID generator to add mesh. :D

In theory, if you use Mono on Mac or Linux it should work fine. Try Mono (http://mono-project.com/Main_Page) out on your Mac and see if it works for you.

So, this is basically used to name your sims that you create, right?

I'm with some of the others and have no clue what this is used for. Does it generate names for the sims already in the game or is it just a generator to pick names for your sims when you make them from outside the game? I don't have problems with picking names but I suppose some do. If it changes the names of the sims in the game then that's different.

Would be good to have a little clarity if you have the time please.

fluttereyes, this is simply a name generator for those of us who have no brains for names. xD It just gives you a random name, and maybe what that Sim could do as a job. You choose the gender, race, and nationality to determine a good name for them.

It doesn't change the name of Sims in the game, but just gives you ideas of what you could name your sims.

PEOPLE LISTEN:
It creates random names for you.

I create awful names! All my female names end in A. Emilia, Andrea, Paula.
I get really confused with making new names, so this is great

This is great :-) I hate thinking up last names for my sims. And when doing a sim from a culture I don't know much about finding a suitable name is really hard so this is wonderful :-) Now to go re-name some of my sims. Thank you so much for this

I thought that's what it was but wasn't sure. Thanks for that. In sims 2 we had a default name changer and I thought this might have done the same job too. It's not like we get to pick so many names now with only being able to play one family Great mod for those who need it

This is such a useful little tool! Character creation is my favorite part of the game and yet I am so bad at thinking of unique names. Thank you!
