This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Updates:
11/10/2011 Updated the punching bag to be available on community lots, as it should be! Please re-download if you want the punching bag to appear in your community lot catalog under hobbies/exercise. Sorry for the inconvenience.

02/11/2012 Added hobby enthusiasm in two flavors for those with the FreeTime Expansion pack. If you have FreeTime and would like your sims to gain hobby enthusiasm using the punching bag download one of the following files:

HW_exertopunchingbag-SPORTS - EA coded the punching bag to increase sports enthusiasm OR
HW_exertopunchingbag-FITNESS - Increases fitness enthusiasm instead of sports (Thank you, Almighty Hat. )

Special thanks to tunaisafish for her work on enthusiasm. It saved me a ton of time figuring out the BHAVs I needed to edit to change the hobby enthusiasm from sports to fitness.

10/12/2012 Fixed the shadows on the surface of the punching bag so the leather looks like it's all one piece like it should. It's a cosmetic change but it's a huge improvement, IMO. All of the versions have been updated with the improved mesh.

Hanging Exerto Punching Bag

Catalog Description:
Float like a moth and sting like a yellowjacket! With the Exerto Punching Bag, athletic Sims can punch away to release tension and keep in shape.

Slaved to the Exerto Punching Bag career reward.
Modified Maxis mesh and texture.

Catalog Sort:
Hobbies/Exercising - $2,500
Features:
  • Space Saver - 1 Tile
  • Maxis Match Recolors - Includes 2 recolors of the Exerto Punching Bag that match EA's exercise equipment.
  • Balanced Gameplay - Priced to line up with the treadmill which has a similar skill rate. I also removed the training interaction in order for that to be exclusive to the career reward punching bag.
Placement:
Your sims stand to the right of the green arrow so keep that in mind when placing the punching bag in a corner or against a wall.

Recommended Mods:
Kinda-sorta' related: Buyable Aspiration & Career Rewards by Sophie-David.

Terms of Use:
You're free to use however you'd like, for whatever you'd like. I hope you find a use for it.

Ditto to what *the fish* said!

Less space being taken is always awesome! (This will work perfectly with my re-do of the Grunt house!)

Oh thank you! You solved the problem of wanting to put punching bags into community gyms and still have the reward be a reward! I love this.

I am a cheaty cheater and would've loved to have the trainer option available, but even without it this is fantastic! Thank you! .

That made me laugh. All I did was clear the pie menu functions--it would take like 30 seconds to add the training option back. Just tick off the boxes like they are in the pic, commit and save.

Thanks to everyone for leaving such nice comments, I appreciate them.

ETA:
Actually, it might not be that simple to add the training option back in. I forgot I also reduced the footprint so I'm not sure if that will affect the training option--maybe the trainer won't know where to enter and exit? So it might not work...or maybe it will. Experiment at your own risk!

Ooh, thank you for the tip! I will definitely try that when I get a chance.

Wonderful idea! I never understood why this thing had to have such a humongous footprint - and to me, having it hanging from the ceiling makes more sense. Space-saving + sense-making = win. .

Brilliant! This should look a lot more suitable for a working gym IMO than trying to use the reward one (plus the space-saving aspect means I'll be able to use more than one in small gyms).

Are they enabled for community lots or did I get ahead of myself? I can't find it under hobbies>exercise or hobbies>all or misc>misc or misc>all, looking at items that cost around 2500 simoleans (same as treadmill). Maybe Sophie-David's rewards are required and not just recommended?
Or maybe I'm just missing it

Hi shastakiss, I didn't even think that because this was cloned from a career reward they wouldn't automatically be available on community lots. Later on tonight (if I get the chance) or tomorrow I'll re-up a new version that's enabled for community lots. I'm a home gym kind of player myself but I definitely want the option to use these on community lots. Thanks for letting me know.

P.S
Sophie-David's buyable rewards are a completely different upload and don't affect this punching bag at all.

ETA:
I updated the punching bag and the new file has been uploaded and is available to re-download. Thanks again, shastakiss, for letting me know.
