Teens Tattoo'd - Teens Can Now Tattoo Themselves In-game

- Lets your Teen Sims tattoo themselves in the automated chair and Day Spa

- Built with Base Game 1.34.27.016 and Ambitions 4.10.1.011

- Almost certainly compatible with 1.31 onwards, and probably before

Here I go with the Teens again ...

Teens can of course be given tattoos with Master Controller or the like - but that's always irked me a little, cos it takes you out of immersion in the game and feels a bit like cheating. So I knocked up this, which lets my Teen Sim get tattoos in-game.

Don't get too excited. Having tried and failed for hours, I just can't crack Teens getting tattooed by real life other Sims, or indeed being able to tattoo real life other Sims themselves. It's way above my pay-grade of whacking a bit of XML open with S3PE and then typing T and a comma. The best I was able to do was have my Teens tattoo themselves with the automated chair and at the Day Spa.

Oh well. I'm just gonna pretend that all the real-life Sims spotted their fake ID, so they have to be sneaky about it.

This modifies 0x03B33DDF GetTattooInRabbitHole and GiveTattooToSelf resources, and will conflict with any other mod that does the same. You know the drill.

Hmm I never thought about it .. but yeah teens should be able to tattoo themselves. I'll take a peek at the code if you want and see if I can't enable the interactions for teens also. Just lemme know if ya want me to

Thanks for a nice mod. I actually know a handful of people that tattooed themselves as teenagers, so this isn't far off at all. Ofcourse the results they got wasn't as good as in the game

That would be incredibly useful. I'm almost certain I found everything to to with Tattooing in the Gameplay File and, reading through it, the 'T and comma' method should work for the Proper Chair interactions.

Instead, the chair throws up a greyed-out interaction and the tooltip says that there must be another adult present. In the Salon, a Teen can ask to get a tattoo, but then it's just dropped from the queue.

This smacks of Core to me, which I'm nowhere near being able to hack yet. Or scripting, which I'm only learning. If there's a way to get the Proper Chair working with simple Gameplay File manipulation (i.e. I've missed some crucial resource and is my face red) please let me know!

I'm thinking it should just be a standard interaction script mod. But, I won't know until I examine everything. I'll keep you posted

I keep trying to find something that is preventing the teens from getting tattooed by other sims. But, I can't seem to find any restriction in the scipt.

I did edit all the xml tattoo files to have T also ... but never tested it.
I assume you already tried that though. I rarely play anymore (too much modding) and even when I do, I only have a bachelor (CyberBob) and his pets that I ever play.

If I ever find anything, I'll be sure to let you know. G'Luck. Maybe someone more experienced then me could find it. Have you tried pestering the folks in create chat yet? hehe.

Thanks for Teen work first of all, and good show trying to tackle this restriction quirk. Unfortunately I just today started research into Sims-modding and so can be of no help trying to figure it out, but I'll file it away in my long list of problems to try to help solve once I get a handle on the idiosyncracies of the game and what makes it tick.

Having got halfway through learning how to hack the Core, I'm almost certain that the the problem lies with it automatically rejecting things that Prudes - that's all I can call em without getting unnecessarily abusive - think Teens shouldn't be able to do.

It all comes down to whether you think of 'Teen' as meaning 13 or 19. I personally think around 17 - and am not interested in so much as Right or Wrong but what a 17-year-old is perfectly capable of doing.

My current project is to try and unlock Teens being able to do a Sexy Club Dance - which a RL 17-year-old would be perfectly capable of doing - and once I crack being able to to that, Teens properly getting tattoo should be a doddle.

Take care. Have fun. Bring your own banjo.

When I first got the Ambitions expansion pack I was like, "Do they not realize how many teens out there have tatoos..." Thank you for this mod. I feel a lot better now.

So it either doesn't work with certain EPs or with the latest patches.
I don't have any MODs that would conflict and yet it is not working. =[

I was a small time creator for TS2.
Just not talented enough yet to create for TS3 or TS4...

I tried this with my game, however instead of enabling tattoos it disabled them for my family.

Is this compatible with patch 1.67?
