When I'm not playing TS2, I'm playing Fallout 3. And a couple years ago I was able to play a little of both when I found Fallout fans on MTS and elsewhere, and started downloading their custom content. I built some retro houses, decked them out in post-apocalyptic decor, and played them in the strange world of Strangetown. Fun!

Lately I've been cleaning up some of those houses, and building new ones, so I can share them here on MTS. I've been making do with content, but when it came to colors, especially bathroom tile, I wanted what I wanted. I wanted what I'd grown up with. Well, kinda.

My mom was big on painting everything white (a terrible idea with three kids). But I loved color! And when my dad would take me to the hardware store with him I would spend the whole time looking at paint chip colors with names like Peacock Blue and Turquoise Green, Buttercup and Wedgewood, Flamingo! They made me think of exotic, faraway places.

So, I made some tile walls, with painted walls and linoleum floors to match, in six retro colors: Aquamarine, Avocado, Bubblegum, Chartreuse, Pumpkin, and Tangerine. Two of the floors are original and two are Maxis recolors.

The colors and their names came directly from 1950s paint chip brochures thoughtfully scanned and uploaded to the web by retro geeks. I remember seeing these colors in one home or another when I was growing up - except tangerine; I guess you had to live in an exotic, faraway place to appreciate that one. It's still my favorite color.

The tile walls are best suited to a bathroom, but I can see them in a laundry/utility room. The paint colors can be used anywhere, and the floors look great in a bath or kitchen, or anywhere that gets a lot of traffic.

The tile walls can be found under Walls > Tile §0
The painted walls can be found under Walls > Paint §0
The floors can all be found under Floors > Linoleum §0

Enjoy!

The little patterned floors are my absolute favorites out of this set. It's ALL very nice, but those tiles make me swoon, lol. Thank you for these!

I did want to ask though - do these really need an EP? Are they not basegame compatible?

The whole set is basegame compatible. I got jittery during upload and went into auto mode - thought I was uploading a lot. When a kind moderator pointed out my mistake I fixed it. Everyone should be able to use these in game, regardless of what eps and sps they have or don't have.

Sorry, everyone, about my mistake. Definitely my bad. And thanks so much for all the encouraging comments.

I find it inappropriate to have a chair facing the bathtub, who in their decent mind watches someone take a bath? That's disturbing!
Apart from the creepy idea to place a chair facing a bathtub, nice job recreating the Retro/Nuclear Family-theme for The Sims 2!
Thanks a lot for inspiring me to make a Nuclear-family themed sub-division in a place so appropriate as Strangetown!
