Please download the fixed versions. The ones that aren't marked as 'fixed' are fine.

Flavors Update

I was digging around in this xml and found a lot of things I really wanted to tweak, such as how long it takes to cook a single and group meal (I halved these values), the percent chance that sims will clean up after themselves after they eat (regardless of if they are neat or sloppy sims). The default percentage is 50% and I changed this to 100% for example. Here is a complete list of changes, also this xml is easily tweakable in S3PE however I will gladly make flavors by request. Just tell me what you want the values changed to such as how many group meals you want, percent chance that sims will clean up, and/or if you want them to cook faster or slower.

Complete list of changes:

Servings Per group meal default: 8. This is changed to 4. I made this mod originally because I would always have way more leftovers in the fridge than sims would eat, and I tend to play small families. I wanted to keep cooking meals and not eat 2 full group servings (which adds up to 16 meals) until everything spoils. So this is helpful if you play smaller families and want to keep cooking. I thought of this because in TS4 they gave us an option whether to cook 4 meals or 8 meals, and that was really helpful, so I didn't have the same problem that I have in ts3.

Number of servings left when plate is half eaten: default 4, changed to 2. This is for half eaten plate consistency with the original group meal tuning edit.

The base time it takes to cook a single serving of food: The default is 10, I changed it to 5 sim minutes.

The base time it takes to cook a group serving, default is 25 and I changed this to 15 sim minutes. I would like someone to test this more extensively if you can and report back if it's working the way it should.

Chance that sims would clean up after themselves, the default is 50 and I changed this to 100 percent. Another annoyance is gone! I always hated how they wouldn't always clean up..

The XML edited is S3_0333406C_00000000_A1104C038B529738_Food_0xa1104c038b529738%%+_XML

Please post any feedback and comments, everything is greatly appreciated. Have fun with this and don't forget to request flavors!

I wouldn't recommend 100% clean up chance. Maybe 75% or 85%.

I think the cooking time mod and the clean-up mod should be maybe two different mods? They do very different things after all.

Can't find stuff in build and buy mode?

I added flavors. Thanks for the suggestions.

Two separate .package files that change the same thing in the xml file will conflict so you need to download one of the flavors which change multiple things in the same xml.

Thank you for the new flavours! I'm going to try "Faster cooking, 4 group meal servings, and no changes to cleaning up" as I play smaller families too.

You're welcome. If you have anything to report back about how it's going please feel free

And just a note, I halved something else in the original file (it was something like sim minutes between your sim adding ingredients to pot while cooking) that I didn't change in the new flavors. I'm not sure yet what difference it makes but ill fix it later.

I guess this would be painfully obvious to everyone but me, but I did check with Dashboard and it does indeed conflict with Simrod's Power Eater over at Simsasylum. This one has more options, though.
Thank you! I'll try it next time I play. I don't want my slobs to clean up after themselves.

Yes it conflicts because he probably edited 'number of bites' and that is in this XML as well. If you want a combination with faster eating too, I can do one. Just tell me what you want in it specifically like how many group servings, etc

@christmas fear, thank you for offering! It's fine as is, I don't need them both. PowerEater cuts cooking time in half and makes them clean up. I don't think it makes them eat faster. That would be unhealthy! ;-)
I like the fewer meals option for group meals yours has (my fridges tend to get really full if I don't stop my sims from cooking all the time) and the unmodded optional clean-up part.

Again, thank you for doing this.

Oh there actually have been people who made faster eating mods in the past though! Which is basically just less 'bites'. I'm glad you like it thanks for the positive feedback

Great idea for a mod. I don't have the world's most discerning palate or anything, but a week of eating leftover mac and cheese has always seemed pretty unappetizing. It also makes sense that my sims with larger families should be doing more actual cooking than the rest. Thanks for adding some realism.

You're welcome and for everybody, in case you downloaded one of the versions which are now fixed, please redownload. See the download files.

Ok, tried it. Unfortunately, now they never stop cooking. I'm talking three cooking skill points-long.

Dashboard reports no conflicts. The other mods that I added with this were these ones:

Any ideas whether one of them might be responsible?

It might be a problem with that flavor. Could you try with a different flavor and post if the problem still happens? And tell me the exact flavor you downloaded so I can take a look at it.

This looks great, and maybe I'm weird, but could you make a flavor with a zero chance of them cleaning up? I tend to play big families, and I hate the way they all crowd around the dishwasher and sink. I assume I could still instruct one to clean up.

The mod is no longer working! It has been working fine until recently, around the autumn I think, but now it just won't even show up in the mod list when you start the game. I've tried it with new saves, old saves, with the launcher, without the launcher, removing it entirely, different places but all for naught. My only guess is there's been an update to the game at some point that's broken it. I'm getting a message about a mod or several no longer being up to date with the current version, but I'm not sure if it's this mod that's the cause. It's a great mod and I'd hate to not be able to use it.
