This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS - check below the description for more information.
A matching single and double bed frame, re-meshed from the Maxis “Rustic Dream Bed” with the three original + five additional colour options.

The mattresses on the screenshots are from this post (Maxis bedding made available in separate form).

Placement-wise the frames behave like rugs (can intersect objects but not walls), so one can put mattresses on them without having to use moveobjects. The footprint of the double bed has a bit of an odd shape (I actually wanted it to be invisible like on the single one), but it behaves like it’s supposed to. No funky “View” options in game.

Available for 320§ / 640§ in Beds, in the same eight colour variants each. All textures for the original colour options are referenced from the Maxis bed.

Okay -- so you officially rule -- I have been wanting to separate the mattresses from the bed-frames for a while (like Sims 2). I learned to live with out it in Sims 3 but have been trying to teach myself to meshing, etc to figure out just how to do this and here it is -- and by a someone with a good track record that whose content I can trust. <-- this is me giddy. Now my problem is whether to open up my game and replace a bunch of beds or open up packages and see what I can learn from what you did...
