1097 West Fansee Factory - No CC


Originally built for the MoreAwesomeThanYou January 'EAxis House of Phail' contest, 1097 West Fansee Factory is a complete overhaul of a Maxis lot - 1097 West Dreaming Drive, situated in Desiderata Valley. The rules of the contest were seemingly simple - no moving external walls, and no deleting or moving the curved, terrain-painted path, and no CC whatsoever. All much easier said than done, as I found when working on this house!



When I first saw the lot, I had the idea of doing a simple, cottage-style family house, but was totally stumped by the diagonal wall and lack of space for a back garden. After trying out several different styles, I returned to one of my favourites - the converted-factory style =P



The slummy, junkyardish wasteland outside of the thick concrete fence hides a hidden gem - a modern, clean oasis in the middle of the city. The conversion makes good use of the factory's old mezzanine level, placing general living areas, a spacious bathroom and a small greenhouse on the ground floor. Up the stylish spiral staircase can be found a second bathroom, and the calm, neutrally decorated bedroom area. Access to an unfurnished balcony area can also be reached through the bedroom. Back on the ground floor, the house also has a small patio area under a wooden pergola, next to a well-sized pool.



The house is totally CC free and has been thoroughly playtested by the rather wonderful Fanseelamb. The lot uses rather more EP's than I usually use, but this lot was built whilst I was having problems with the AGS. Fully scanned and packaged with CleanInstaller, the lot costs 107,990 and is fully furnished and decorated.
