What they do:
This changes the time that the sun rises and sets in game. Six different options are available, but remember you can only have one in the game at any time, you can't mix and match or be able to set a different sunrise/sunset for each day.

Options available:
  • ExtraShortDay - The sun rises at 12PM and sets at 1PM, leaving the remaining day looking dull and dark.
  • ExtraLongDay - The sun rises at 12:30AM and sets at 11:30PM, leaving the entire day and almost all of the night entirely bright/slowly getting darker.
  • SpringTime - Like a typical spring day, the sun rises at 7AM and sets at 6PM.
  • SummerTime - Like a midsummer's day, the sun rises at 5AM and sets at 9PM.
  • AutumnFallTime - Like an autumn/fall day, the sun rises at 6AM and sets at 7PM.
  • WinterTime - Like a winter day, the sun rises at 8AM and sets at 4PM.

These four images were taken between 9:30AM and 12:30PM whilst my ExtraShortDay mod was in place.

INSTALLATION:
Choose ONE of the downloads, unrar and place the "CommonSky" file in "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Ini", replacing the previous file but REMEMBER to back up that file someplace else.

Additional Notes
Thankyou to Gangreless, who gave me the idea to make these with her Daylight Savings mod and Iceland Time mod.

You must have the expansion or stuff packs listed below installed to use this custom content. Please see the post text for any exceptions.

I did remember to back mine up, put it on the desktop. However, I could not get the game to update with it, so I took the mod out and put it on my desktop for the moment...and guess what this idiot did??? Yep, was not paying attention and overrode the original file. Now I cannot update, nor can I play. Can anyone help by sharing the original so I don;t have to uninstall and reinstall? I have the digital download (never, EVER get that!!!) and it will not let me do anything now.

Please?

I've followed the DL instructions to the T, Verified that the correct file was in the correct location, backed up the original file and even fast forwarded 3 days in game...yet nothing. And to my knowledge there was no patch after I DL'ed this mod. Can anyone provide any type of advice as to why this is not working? Is this mod not compatible with WA? If so maybe thats my problem...

This is a very cool mod, especially the Short Day version - that sounds right about perfect for the vampires that are coming in the new expansion - why suffer blisters going out in the sun when you can walk around in perpetual night most of the hours? Vamp kids going to school will thank you for this mod forever, lolol

..now all I gotta do is figure out how to have TS3 on a sep user account so I can have a darkened vampire neighbourhood

Excellent stuff - much thanks again :-D

I added this and at first it didn't work, but then i went to sunset valley or whatever its called and it worked. So it doesn't work in twinbrook or bridge port.... as far as i can tell. But whats really cool is the fact that my vampires can be out longer now! I got the extra short day and now my vampires can be out side 23 hours a day! AWESOME THANKS!

I really really love this idea. But does it exist for sims 2 too?

Hi,
How does this affect vampires? Would they get the heating up moodlet at the new time of sunrise, and get the night vigor moodlet the new time of sunset? Or will they still get those moodlets according to vanilla sunset/rise times. Thanks

Thanks 4 sharing ur Hard work of art w/us.

Yeah, where does this file go on a Mac? There's no such path to follow on the Mac side.
