Staff Note: This mod is outdated and doesn't work for recent game versions. There is an updated version available here.

Let's children choose from more Lifetime Rewards and Traits. In a vanilla game children have 18 Lifetime Rewards and can choose from 51 Traits when they age up from Toddler or are created in CAS.

My mod adds another 10 Lifetime Rewards, and another 7 Traits for age up, CAS, and Mid-Life Crisis:
-New Rewards: Acclaimed Author, Body Sculptor, Extra Creative, Haggler, Legendary Host, Mid-Life Crisis, Office Hero, Professional Slacker, Super Green Thumb, Vactioner. (childLTR)
-New Traits: Charismatic, Childish, Dislikes Children, Green Thumb, Handy, Natural Cook, Schmoozer. (childTraits)

These LTR and Traits should NOT be available because they are not age-appropriate:
-Unavailable Rewards: Attractive, Fertility Treatment.
-Unavailable Traits: Commitment Issues, Flirty, Great Kisser, Hopeless Romantic, Unflirty.

There are 3 files, ONLY USE 1:
-JTP_childLTR : All LTR for children.
-JTP_childTraits : All Traits for children.
-JTP_childLTR_childTraits : All LTR for children and all Traits for children.

For best results, delete the cache files before use:
C:\Documents and Settings\ <User Name> \My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
CASPartCache.package, compositorCache.package, scriptCache.package, simCompositorCache.package

Good news:
-A child can use all of the new LTR, and none of the ones I left out.
-When you age up a toddler to a child, you can select from the new Traits, and none of the traits I left out.
-All of the new Traits and none of the left out Traits are available in CAS, if you delete the cache.

Bad news:
-When you use midlife crisis, the Traits I left out are still visible for some reason. They are unselectable which is good news, but they should not be there at all. (ie; You can see Unflirty and Green Thumb, but you will only be allowed to pick Green Thumb.)
-None of the new Traits are available in CAS, if you do not delete the cache.

Neutral news:
-Some animations will cause your Sim to stretch like Mr Fantastic. It is perfectly harmless and temporary.

Does not seem to cause any conflicts. Sorry for the inconvenience, I will try to iron out these problems. Enjoy!

In the base game, toddlers and children only have access to a subset of traits and a subset of lifetime happiness rewards. This mod gives them access to all traits and rewards.

As for compatibility, Lemmy's checker lists it as compatible with my mods, including Indie Stone Story Progression... so let's hope that's accurate Trying it now.

Edit: OK, either the mod is not compatible with something after all and isn't functioning, or it doesn't do what I thought it did Some traits are still not available for children and toddlers. Is it supposed to make only some traits avaialable, and if so, which ones?

Edit again: Apparently it works for some, so perhaps the issue is that I tested it on a child already in-game, or something in my cache, or another mod conflict. I'll test some more :p

Srikandi, it says it grants "age appropriate" LTR's and traits, not "all", so are you sure it is not working for you?

Here is what I am seeing in my game:

in CAS, ALL traits are available at any age.

In-game, testing using the "Modify Traits" cheat, some traits aren't available. THis is for children from an existing save, AND for newly-created children and toddlers in a new test save. Caches were deleted before the test.

Not sure what happens if you age up normally in-game... don't have a quick way to test that (since if you age up with a cheat, you don't pick your trait). I'll leave the mod in and see what happens, or maybe somebody else has a family they can easily test this with.

Since all traits are available in CAS, I assume that was the intent of the mod, but I am not sure

Yes, it does seem problematic. I must investigate further. Thank you all for the feedback, I have updated the description to be more accurate.

Just for clarification, I was only trying to unlock the age-appropriate traits, not all of them. The file is set up like this:
<traitList>
<name>GreenThumb</name>..
<ageVisible>Teen</ageVisible>..
</traitList>

Basically each trait is seperated by the <traitlist>, and I only modified the <ageVisible> on some of the Traits, not all of them. I'm not sure why the wrong traits are showing up at all because those lines of code are copied straight from gamefile. Deleting the cache helps, but there's still some problems.

And for conflicts, the instance is 0x905E2204EBCAC0B6 Traits.

Hmmm... I would like to suggest that this mod might be more useful if all traits are available at every stage. While I know it might sound odd for a toddler to be Flirty or have Commitment Issues, what if you want a sim born in-game to have ONLY that type of "adult" trait when they grow up? You have to start handing them out at birth. Otherwise you can only have two "adult" traits, those given at Teen and YA.

To me, the main reason for using a mod like this would be so a sim born in-game can have any combination of traits, just like a sim created as a YA in CAS.

I think you should remove 'childish' and 'dislikes children' because...

a) what child could possibly NOT be childish?!?!?!!
b) errr... so say you're a child but you dislike children. so that means... you dislike yourself? doesn't make sense.

Best to be wierd, never be shocked,
Break rules whenever you can't be caught,
Please don't be boring, routines go trough not,
Who cares what you do? Who cares what you say?
That's the altitude, don't be normal... Yay!

I disagree with Needfyre.
1. Just because someone is a child, doesn't mean they will actually act childish. I think it's a keeper.
2. And, children can always hate other children.

Fair warning, I just had a huge problem with the following mod:

JTP_childLTR_childTraits.package

It prevented my game from showing ANY traits, in game and in CAS.

I am running Version 1.8.25.003001 with no WA installed.

^same thing happened to me, no WA installed but as soon as I booted the game up after installing the mod, there were no traits or lifetime rewards - even though I only installed the child traits file.

It's impossible to get anything to fix the problem of children being restricted to the small select traits EA chose for them. Sorry, impossible for those people who don't want to fork out money in buying the ever expanding amounts of expansions. I can't help but feel like I'm being punished for only having the base game.

And yet you had it so good back in the day, oh well...
