This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
[Edit: obsolete! Use VelocityGrass's Deco Remover, here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=478307]

The Mission counter/cabinet set in Sims 3 is attractive and functional, but I rarely used it, because the stained glass inserts never matched my color schemes. This upload fixes all that, by removing the glass insets from the counters, counter islands, cabinets, and cabinet islands; you see only fully recolorable wooden cabinet doors.

The Plain Mission items are not default replacements; they're available as new catalog items, slightly cheaper than the fancy glass-fronted ones in the game. You can mix and match both styles in your kitchen.

Two caveats for this item:

1) The package files are large. That's partly because every counter and cabinet is actually two or three items, including corner versions and appliance versions. It was also necessary to bring in extra resources to the clone, to remove all four glass designs and to maintain the links between the various forms of counter. Attempts to remove various resources resulted in bad things happening when linking counters, so I've just gone with the full clone.

2) The corner versions of the two-sided "island" overhead cabinets have a sporadic texture mapping problem. I discovered this while testing, but unfortunately it's also a feature of the original mission overhead cabinets, and fixing it is beyond the scope of this mod.

Don't forget to Thank the creator after downloading! Use the Thanks button located above the screenshots above.
Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

Absolutely divine job! I agree about having to work around the stained glass inserts when using these otherwise lovely counters. These are much more useful and so versatile, if I want to include a few stained glass units without having to go "whole-hog". Thank you for these inspiring meshes!

Default Do You Take Requests?
These are very nice & you did a wonderful job! I love them in my game...even better than the originals. I didn't use them much for the same reason you stated.

Do you take requests? If so, do you think you could also remove the stained glass from the "Window Casement Mission"? If not, it's OK but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. :D

Not having a sig IS my sig. Oh wait, this is a sig, isn't it? Nevermind...

Thanks so much. I did finally create a kitchen with the mission cabinets for a house I building in that style. Although I did get my color scheme from the stained glass, which looks great, the bombardment of stained glass in that kitchen is overwhelming and downright ugly. Now I can fix the kitchen and keep the house!

Heh -- for those requesting windows, that's a whole nother ball game in Sims 3, every object type has its own quirks and idiosyncracies. I'll pass on the word to some of our window experts though.

Thank you soooo much! And thank you for making them *NOT* default replacements. These are going to be perfect for the kitchen I haven't been able to get right.

Absolutely lovely work, Srikandi! I'm going to hold off downloading for now in hopes that at some point the files can be made smaller but if that's not possible I'll still have to snag them later.

Isn't that the truth? If a person doesn't run into trouble with the way the texture is mapped on something, it will be something else rearing its ugly head.

First I'd like to say thank you for your beautiful work! I'd love to have these in my game and I'm sure you worked hard on them.

I ran Delphy's Sims3 Dashboard tool and four of the files showed up corrupt so I took them out of my game and cleared the caches. The four were the Cabinet Island Mission Plain, Cabinet Mission Plain, Counter Island Mission Plain, and Counter Mission Plain.

I thought you might want to know just in case. I only have the base game and I have the latest patches as of today, 3/12/10.

I have been looking all over for counters without the back "lip" that bleeds into windowsills. Thanks so much for these!

Ahhh that'd be because they were created with a very early version of the Object Cloner tool. I'll look into updating em one of these days

I hope you'll update these; I can't put anything on top of them now--I just end up with a hole in the counter and the objects sitting on the floor. I hate not being able to use it anymore! :[

Love the way these look, but I can't place a sink on them. When it's placed, it looks like a hole in the counter. All the rest in the game work, so it's some issue with this one. Have all the expansions except for Supernatural, and also the first four stuff packs. Game is fully updated. I don't have any mods that should affect this, either. Hope it can be corrected, because I would love to use these!
