NOW you upload this!

I just finished a medieval restaurant and tavern. While the 3 tiles needed to place the stove don't exist in this particular lot, I can plan for it to be there for future lots. I'm so "EXCITED" because having an alternative to the Community Stove is one of those things that I'd come to accept as a complete impossibility. I was always curious as to why no one created a medieval chef stove. So, thank you for this fabulous download and idea! I love it. I've said it once before, but it bears saying again...I am most happy you are creating medieval things. It's one of those wish list items for me. So, this is indeed the next best thing! Thanks again and again!

Is there a way you can do the same thing with the Flapjack Food Stand stove? Right now, I have that at my Medieval Fair covered with walls to camouflage the sheer ugly "metal" moderness of it.

Cool. Could you please make some stoves like that but like for children and children patterns? If not, its ok.

As you can see, I love it though lol.

:google:

hehehe. Couldn't thank you more ;D

StephSim - I had really planned to have this finished with the Tavern NPCs before the challenge ended, but alas real life had other plans. One of the next things on my agenda is to check out the food stands and considering NPCs for the Bon Voyage expansion. So, hopefully I'll have something for that soon.

trishydoll - I could make the childrens stove invisible, but Im not aware if there is a period childrens stove to overlap it. Unfortunately I dont mesh so I can only recolor the existing object.

Thanks for letting me know. My curiosity with the stove in the Food Stands is that they are the same stove as the "chef stove" with cute fences around them (albeit it has additional interactions as Food Stand). But I know that things are not as simple as "it is the same Maxis object". ...I'll leave that to you and time.

There are so many things not there for a TOTALLY medieval hood (medieval style apartment doors, medieval exercise equipment, etc.) but with all the objects you (and other dedicated "medieval" Simmers) have created...I get excited about the potential of transforming my medieval hood in totality (as I am building an entire medieval community of lots with everything from the castles to the hovels and from the forge to the bakery). I created a medieval bakery to share soon (not for the challenge but as an extension of what I submitted for the challenge). Your signs add to the quaintness of it all. And this idea with the stove (especially etna's) and your invisible stove and the side table is ingenious to me.

Thank you for sharing your talent and creations.

Thanks for your comments StephSim. I have a fairly long list of things I want to change in the game to make it believeable. I am not rigidly following medieval, but more medieval/fantasy. I don't plan to play a modern game again, so my energy is focused on creating things specifically for this genre for now on. I figured I might as well share what I make since there is such a lack for themed hoods. Keep checking here and my site for frequent additions. I am excited to eventually get to the building phase as I will definitely be using yours and many other great lots in my town.

I've always wanted one of these for my Medieval hood Sunni, but for some reason it crashed my game. I have the required EP, and even took out the recolour that I had of the NL stove as I thought that it may be causing the crash, but to no avail.

I don't seem to have much luck with invisible items for some reason, and wish that I could find out what is causing my game to reject them.

cursed.martyr - Im sorry to hear that the recolor crashed your game. You imply that you have had similar problems with other invisible recolors/objects? Im not certain as to what would cause the game to crash, at most the object would merely show up as not invisible. If you have had similar issues before it may be a graphics card problem. Or, Im wondering if an expansion beside NL might be needed. Im going to test that since my other tests included multiple expansions beyond NL.

Thanks Sunni that's very kind of you to test this item just using NL. I don't know if it makes any difference but I also have Uni installed as well.

I shall check your profile and website from time to time...Speaking of your website...YOU HAVE DECORATIVE CARS AND RECOLOURS! Yeah...I need them for my Simtopia project - so thank you for creating them and having an opened sharing policy! My car dealerships and garages thank you as well.

Back on topic...I am running 2 Windows Log-ins. 1 for Simtopia and 1 for Medieval Sims. Yes my computer has become a Simming territory. (I will eventually have log-ins for Harry Potter and Sci-Fi as well). Right now...I'm completing the Medieval hood so every medieval object you create is great!

I also love your lot designs and how much detail you put into them. Knowing your style...I think my lots will have a welcomed home in your Medieval hoods. I pulled my lots from the challenge because I needed to clean up a few things and present them as 1 complete collection. There are 30 lots. I am finalizing the last few sets (hovels, row houses and a small "University" island) so your medieval Simmies have everything. I think you will love it docks, home businesses (tailor, bakery, apothecary), graveyards, pastures, hovels....etc. I'm double checking that every lot is decorated and functional. While I know people will add their personal touches and change out some of the furniture...Simmers will be able to download and play right away. It will be submitted this weekend for certain. I'm so excited about this project!

So keep at your long list as the more you create...the more complete my Medieval hood will be! I shall leave you in peace now!

sunni, I am having the same problem as cursed.martyr -- I have Uni & NL, and when I put in the invisible chef stove recolor the game crashes during start-up.

Your other recolor for the Uni stove works, though. So I don't know what the issue is.

katalina522 - Im sorry that you are having this issue and Im actually suprised by the problem. I have attempted to recreate the situation on two computers now and haven't had the crashing issue. I will continue to investigate the problem, but until I can recreate it, I have no idea why it occurs. Its either a graphic card problem or an expansion pack problem in my considerations.

It's just a normal invisible recolor, right? I have CEP and all my other invisible things work perfectly fine, including Targa's invisible default replacement for trash cans. And my other recolors of the chef stove work. This is just very weird. I even removed everything else in my downloads folder and tried it alone, and but that just made the game crash sooner.

Re: graphics card issue - I have a MacBook, if that helps. I know sometimes we get weird graphics cards.

Say, what's the counter that you used next to the stove?

Thanks. Some time ago I tried to do it myself, but I totally failed with shadows. Invisible recolors should be left to professionals

I like the idea but it is the only chef stove now. There is no chef stove you can see. Why isn't this just another recolor so you can choose which one you want?

Sadly this crashed my game as well. I was able to load the game but when I tried to load a lot where the stove was placed it crashed the game and I had to take the default replacement out before that lot would load. I have all EP's and SP's and I have many other invisible objects in my game, none of which have caused similar problems - though I think they're all recolours rather than default replacements.
