So it is technically possible to change the tattoo's "Body-Coverage" size by changing the actual "tattoo" package that's been created, Am I understanding that right? ... If so, could you give an explanation of how it would be possible and what would be needed, I'm fine with the arty stuff but the editing is a mystery ... And it might be easier to make customized tat's that way rather than having you update your most excellent program

I wanted to create a tattoo that stretched from the lower stomach up and out-over the hips, but as you know the stomach (Or belly button area as it is) isn't that big in size making my idea impossible, and I'd rather not use accessories, I've also looked into creating custom skin-tones with the tattoos already on them, but that just seems like way too much work for a bit of ink ...

The way it works is that there's a set of CASPs that define the tattoo locations (type = Tattoo), and there are CASPs for each individual tattoo (type = TattooTemplate). CASP = Create A Sim Part, btw. In each location CASP there is an XML file that defines the upper left and lower right corners of the tattoo location.

To change the location, you'd make a copy of the EA CASP in a package, extract the XML, edit it, replace it in the CASP, and install the package.

The down side is that once you change the location/size, it affects all tattoos using that location.

It you want to pursue this, I can write a tutorial. Despite the technobabble it's really pretty easy, just tedious to find the coordinates and edit the XML.

Please do not PM me with mod, tutorial, or general modding questions or problems; post them in the thread for the mod or tutorial or post them in the appropriate forum.

I basically understand what you mean, although wouldn't have any clue how to do it,

But If I understand correctly ... all you would need to do, is create a blank tattoo package for whichever body area you want to use larger tattoos "on", Then when you create your new tattoo packages you should theoretically be able to increase their area coverage in CAS... To me, it actually seems to make more sense if done that way, then you wouldn't have to edit every single tattoo package ...

I'm assuming you would have to most likely use a 1024 image, or even a 2048 to stop the tattoo from looking really pixelated as you increase its size

But yes, if you would write a short tutorial that would be absolutely great (Or you could create a blank tattoo package like above, see if that idea works with all tattoos first ... If it does, I could just maybe steal it and use it and) ... lol

Thanks again!

Sorry, no. The area of coverage definitions are in a separate set of tattoo definitions - call them locations. If I change the location for the belly tattoo, ALL existing belly tattoos will be moved/scaled accordingly. There's no way to change the area or location for specific tattoos, only for a location.

Also, the default size tattoos are big enough that they are always scaled down, with the single exception of the XCAS full body location. IMO the game handles scaling up better than scaling down.

Maybe I didn't explain properly ... What you've just described about the move/scale ... that's what I need! , I don't care if other tattoos will be moved or scaled, I rarely ever use in-game tattoos

Edit:
So as I said in a previous post, I was trying to use this tutorial for making tattoo's as accessories with absolutely no luck ((http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title..._Sims_3_Tattoo)) Once it gets to the Finish Texture part it makes no sense what so ever ... I'm sure I read that you use GIMP, do you think it would be possible for you to "re-write" that finish texture part using Gimp sometime, I might just have to resign myself to accessories as tats, thanks!

Maybe, but of course it depends on how TS4 tattoos are going to work.

Sorry, this program is very outdated and may not work under Windows 10. Try it and let me know. I may redo it at some point if needed.
