a 2-story americana-style starter with plenty of porch room, space enough for a garden, two bedrooms big enough for double beds, and bathrooms you can actually move around in. a bit of shifting around in the upstairs could give you 3 bedrooms and a slightly smaller bathroom without much effort. likewise, you can wreck the porch if you need more downstairs room. bumping the roof pitch up slightly will give you room enough for a small attic, which could be a pretty decent-sized attic with dormers.
