Heh heh, yes, unfortunately that's what happens when children use it - their arms go straight down with their hands between their legs. EA is 100% responsible for that pose, not me, and I can not even begin to imagine what they were thinking when they designed it...

I should have mentioned it in the overview description but forgot, as I rarely play children - will add it now!

I realize this is a bit late but there could be a variety of reasons for the odd pose. It could be that other cases ended up with clipping of some kind where you could see the kids hands so they put them there to keep them out of the way, it could just be a dev having a bit of fun (the animation is never expected to be seen so have a bit of a chuckle on an otherwise monotonous work day by giving the kid a funny pose), or it could even just be a weird glitch that they didn't bother to fix because players wouldn't actually see it to begin with.

I just want to let people know that this still works as of 1.37.35.1010. This, the cupcake machine, and the microscope alternative are three necessary pieces of CC for my games.

Thank you for letting folks know that those items are still working, and thank you for using my creations! Have a happy New Year

This is a little bit broken. You can only use it in large open spaces, at least 3x3 on each sides, I think. It doesn't work in porches anymore too.

Sorry but I have no idea why that would be happening in your game. This item is not 'broken' and it works perfectly fine in small spaces. I fired up my game and tested it, because I wondered, from what you said, if some new patch may have introduced a new problem. But that's not the case, it's still working correctly.

My game is patched to date and I run a 'clean' game: I don't use any mods, and the only cc I use is my own. As a result, I never have problems with things conflicting or causing issues. You might have something that conflicts in some way.

I placed a telescope in a very cramped area between the house and a set of trees and shrubs, on the edge of the lot. In Build mode on the left side of the below pic, you can see that the footprint is still its correct 2-tile size. In Live mode on the right, you can see that the sim is using the telescope just fine in that cramped space - no large open space needed.

Another test example, this time in a cramped space indoors between items of furniture:

I don't know what to suggest - all I can think of is maybe you have a conflicting mod, maybe something that causes some sort of issue with pathing or object placement, or maybe try downloading the telescope again in case the file may have experienced some corruption during download.

Hi, I'm sorry I thought it was outdated but you're right, it works perfectly when I have no mods on. Thanks!

Very useful considering most of my sims lots don't have the space available for the observatory. Thank you!

An average sized telescope was sorely needed for the game. Thank you so much.

I'll never understand why this wasn't part of the base game. The observatory just doesn't look right for most residential homes and isn't any good for balconies.

Finally... It just doesn't make sense how the standard telescope is something like what in children storybook... Past Sims telescope is more realistic and this delivers.
