Dating back to the 1870s 'Monroe Springs' was built for the Colonel Monroe and his wife upon his retirement from the US Army. The Colonel had worked to forge and secure new trading routes out west for many decades. He fell in love with the deserts of the far/south west, their natural beauty and historic value to the natives that lived there amazed him. He became very interested in culture of the natives local to the region and felt very disheartened by the way he was forced to treat them by his government and superiors. Upon retiring he left the confines of 'civilized' society back on the west coast and just kept riding for days until he ran out of water and stumbled upon a natural spring. He first took it for a mirage, but when it turned out to be real he realized he had found where he needed to be.

And so he bought a small parcel of land and built a house. His devoted and long-suffering wife rejoiced at the chance to be with the man she loved in a place they could be happy, and so she took great enthusiasm in deciding upon the internal décor of the home. While it was much more 'civilized' than the Colonel had intended, his wife's happiness was all the persuasion he needed. Having stage coaches running by on a regular basis to Santa Fe meant that she wouldn't be too cut off from a society she still enjoyed from time-to-time. In their old age they would sit out on the front porch and watch the world go by. Natives and stage coaches frequented the home as the Monroes offered shelter to both overnight in exchange for stories of their cultures and travels. What started as a one-time occurrence would soon fuel the expansion of the home with numerous additions being made to the home over the following years. It would even reunite them with their estranged daughter a couple of years before their deaths.

Lot Info:
'Monroe Springs' sits on a 30 by 30 lot, costing 136,192 Simoleons furnished and 92,254 Simoleons unfurnished.
The home has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 reception areas, a sunroom, a cellar, a fully accessible roof and an established garden. It has all been thoroughly play-tested.
It was built and pictured in the Sims 3 Creators' Consortium world the Wild Wild West. I cannot recommend that world enough. It's so gorgeous.

Creator Notes
All of the fireplaces have been upgraded to fireproof. If your sims hire a babysitter they may spawn in the cellar, so don't be alarmed if a random sim suddenly climbs out of the cellar and walks through the house to the front door. The roof has been made fully accessible and offers further space for entertaining should you wish to stick a few sun loungers, barbeque, table and chairs up there. The cellar also provides additional space which could be utilized for hobbies.
If desired, a version of the lot could be uploaded only requiring the Ambitions EP. This is because I've realised that the only item I've used from the Pets EP is the fireplace in the guest bedroom. So if you'd like a version without the Pets EP, just let me know.

As usual, if you have any comments of feedback, just let me know. I hope you'll enjoy this High Victorian taste of the Southwest.
