So I've had this kicking around in my external drive for a while now, and I only just now got around to fixing minor issues and making the preview pictures. This is Sansa's "raven" dress she wore at the end of Season 4, when she is in hiding with Petyr Baelish under the alias of "Alayne". Ostensibly the black dress and dark-dyed hair is part of the disguise, but Sansa plays the part with such relish, one wonders if she didn't enjoy the transformation for its own sake.

It is a dress made of what looks to be black crepe silk (presumably snatched from her Aunt Lysa's wardrobe) that has had rows of raven feathers sewn to the bust and to the wrist, rather like eyelash lace trim. Unlike Sansa's previous dresses, the garment is constructed as an empire line, the skirt loosely falling from a high waist, with a plunging neckline. In contrast to the freedom of movement provided by the skirt, the sleeves are tight to the wrist. More and larger feathers are added to the shoulders in the form of a capelet that projects to the side rather like wings. How much more symbolic can you get?

This outfit is kind of a love/hate thing within the fandom, and I have to admit I was on the "hate" side at first. But this dress grew on me, especially as I went through the process of meshing it. The feather capelet is entirely meshed, for one, so it looks more three-dimensional than if I had opted to create a blunt-edged layer with transparencies to fake the feather edges. I am also inordinately proud of how I pulled off texturing the specular to make the dress shimmer as it moves, like real crepe silk. And best of all, it's not too heavy a load on your machine, clocking in at 5200~ish polys. Not low, but not too high either.

I have not seen issues with clipping or other mesh weirdness so far, and the only place such issues should show up is in poses where the bones are held rigid. If weird clipping does show up, or any other issues that make the dress unplayable, please leave a comment and I will try to fix the issue ASAP.

The shine is turned up to eleven for the preview pics, to show detail. For most lighting situations the dress should appear darker and a bit less shiny, as in the image where Sansa is dancing.
