Hey! This mod adds the custom trait "Borderline" to your game, which severely affects your Sims emotional wellbeing and the ability to meet their needs. If you have BPD like me and you have suggestions for additions or changes to this mod, I'm happy to hear what you have to say! If you don't have BPD, then hopefully this might be a little window into how much this disorder can affect people.

Updated for Cats and Dogs patch!

What does this mod do?

This mod adds the custom trait "Borderline" that severely affects mood and needs.

Sims with Borderline Personality Disorder become attached to people quickly, are impulsive, become lonely very easily, and experience bouts of anxiety, fear of abandonment, and inappropriate anger.

> Mood Buffs
  • Fear of Abandonment (very sad, lasts 4 hours in game time)
  • Inappropriate Anger (very angry, lasts 2 hours game time)
  • Anxiety (very tense, lasts 4 hours in game time)

What if no one likes your Sim? What if they're just pretending? What if they just haven't figured out what you're really like?

Your Sim knows it's not a very good reason, but they are very angry!

Your Sim is feeling anxious.

> Needs and Skills
  • Social decays very quickly (2x the norm), leaving your Sim very prone to loneliness, increases slightly slower
  • Friendships increase quickly, decrease slightly slower
  • Romantic relationships increase quickly, decrease slightly slower
  • Social skills just slightly more difficult to increase
  • Creative skills just slightly easier to increase

> Whims (mean to show the impulsiveness of starting and ending relationships that comes with "splitting" (black and white thinking / devaluing and idealizing)
  • Buy an Item Worth 1000
  • Buy an Item Worth 100
  • Kiss a Sim
  • WooHoo with Someone
  • Ask to be Girlfriend / Boyfriend
  • Ask to Go Steady with Someone
  • Get Married to Sim
  • Get Engaged to Sim
  • Break Up with Sim
  • Divorce Sim

How to Install
Unzip the folder and drop the .package files into your Mods folder. (Take the .package files out of the folders first.)

I would love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions for improvement!

This is so beautiful. I seriously almost cried that this even exists. I can feel your sincerity and want to give back to others that struggle like we do. I also have BPD and I was SO surprised to find a BPD trait for Sims 4. I wasn't surprised to see the BiPolar trait, but I nearly fell over when I saw the BPD trait. Most people don't even know what it is. I was so excited to find this trait today, I wanted to put it on my simself, but it seems that the new cats and dogs update has broken this mod and I am SERIOUSLY bummed. I really hope this mod gets updated, it means a lot to those of us that have downloaded it and I couldn't thank you enough for taking the time to make this in the first place. It is exactly what I needed. I have subscribed to this thread in hopes that I'll be notified the MINUTE that this mod gets patched up for the newest updates. THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS IS AMAZING!!

I suffer from BPD too, and am friends with other sufferers. What has helped me most is DBT - Dialectic Behavioural Therapy. It would be amazing if any sort of management techniques could be incorporated into this mod somehow!
Thanks for spreading awareness of this really quite shitty condition, and good luck in the future!

Thank you so much for this game. I like making sims of myself a lot, kind of as a way to visualize success, and the traits in the game never really felt like they described me. I'd end up having to give my simself a bunch of negative traits (gloomy/hotheaded) just to make it feel like me, leaving no room for a sim with a personality outside of that which kind of sucked. I really appreciate this!
