It has been brought to my attention today that my Auto Shorter Teens mod conflicts with this as we are both editing the same CAS tuning files for human Teens. I'm going to look at adding a version of my mod that re-enables the ear sliders for human Teens so players can use both if they would like to.
While I was looking though I have noticed that the tuning for mermaids and spellcasters already includes the pointyup ears settings so players should be able to apply pointy ears to those even without your mod.
The pointybackward setting only seems to be listed in the Human tuning though (disabled) and not for any of the occults (even Aliens) so I'm not sure what's going on there.

I just tried this mod. The ear just shows up rounded & won't develop the point. I do have GTW so I don't know why this isn't working. I don't have any other ear mods that should be conflicting. It does not show as being available for magic users from Realm of Magic either. Not sure how to make things enabled for the magic users because I noticed custom skintones are also not available for them.
But just trying to make it for a regular muggle-- err-- non magic default type Sim, the ears don't seem to work.

Doesn't work for me. When I try to use the ears, they just look like normal rounded ears. It used to work, but I'm not sure when it stopped. I'm trying to use it on normal human Sims, not mermaids or vampires or anything like that (as another commenter suggested that as a reason for the mod not working).

Just popping in since it's been a while - unfortunately I'm still not finding any issues to reproduce. The ear presets was just a bonus add-on by request I don't really plan to update for new occults, because it's not necessary to achieve the actual functionality of genetic pointed ears. Zooming into "detail edit mode" allows manual manipulation just as much, points up half their head if you want. As mentioned, mermaids and spellcasters have the sliders unlocked by default so my mod (or any other) isn't needed for that. You just need to use detail edit mode

Might be worth noting that the files these edit are casmodifiertuning so it's not unique to ears. If you have mods that alter cas tuning files, it will conflict with this.

I love playing with elves but don't want to use spell casters. So I truly appreciate this. I noticed a 50% chance for both types of pointed ears. Does this mean all townies will have pointed ears? I would love that! I used to have elvish face presets for Sims 2 so everyone could have pointed ears. Don't really want humans in my elvish world. Thank you so much for this mod!

Doesn't work for me. Tried the no-random Vampires & GTW (have both) and they do show up in CAS selection, but the ears don't change at all (on a human Sim).

After yesterday's patch (June 14, 2022 Werewolves Patch) the slider doesn't work anymore on toddlers (male and female). It seems to be working fine for everyone else on my end!

A quick dip into CAS with the new patch and expac, in a fresh save with no other mods, suggests that while this mod doesn't work on toddlers or (unsurprisingly) infants it's still functioning safely on other life stages.

- The presets do work on toddlers, you just can't drag regular ears into points.
- If I take two adults with pointy ears and use Play With Genetics to make an infant, the resulting infant has normal ears until I change their life stage to Toddler. Didn't try aging one up in game though.

Edit: So I dived into the XMLs with grand ambitions to update the mod myself, and... the mod might not actually be the problem? When the quick-and-dirty update I rigged up didn't do anything, I tried loading completely vanilla just to compare and it looks like that particular slider just doesn't work on toddler or infant ears. Even if I make an alien in vanilla, I can't change their ear points in the infant or toddler stage.
On the bright side, almost nothing has actually changed in the tuning between Khitsule's last update and now- a very slight difference in values for YA noses and, for some reason, an extra copy of the PointyEarsUp chunk in toddlers. So it looks like this should still be safe to use in the current patch, you just can't edit toddler (or infant) ears directly.

Edit edit: I have no reading comprehension, apparently, and missed the "toddler ears don't have a detail edit mode" line in the mod description. False alarm folks, mod's not actually broken (it just doesn't affect infants.)

hello! First of all I must say that this mod is one of my favorites, it cannot be missing from my folders, although now with the new infant update I would like to know if it is updated? Thank you!
