Thank you for this! Will make playing University Life much more bearable and sims not getting stuck in one door of the buildings!

Great idea. Nice to see people out there that are still working on a game that is by the standards of many, better than TS4.

Aww, I could've used this a couple of weeks ago when I was playing Uni! Great mod though, definitely going to get it for the future.

Hi, I'm wondering if you can tell me a little more about the buffet table. Is the script written for the object? By that I mean, does it work for all buffet tables?

I created a motel with a cafeteria. I use the buffet table item, but so far I have to manually serve the food. Would this script allow the buffet table to automatically be served?

Thanks!

PS - I just tried the shell and the script on an existing game and they still worked great. I noticed something, not sure if it is b/c of this mod or it has always been this way. It just happened it was hailing during my visit to the library and the hail was falling into the library. The sims inside were ducking and covering. Looks like the library shell has no ceiling.

Hi nitromon,
My husband tells me he coded this specifically for the Student Union....the table was just sitting there, lol. Anyway, it checks for a Student Union, then checks the original position, and if found moves it to the new position. Same with serving, will work for any buffet table, but it has to be inside the Student Union. If you do coding, feel free to look at and use anything from the script for your own needs.

As far as the hail, we haven't noticed it, but it probably has been that way the whole time. Since the shell is just sitting over a regular roofless building, I'm thinking that no code was ever written to deal with weather when shells are involved. I could be wrong, but it's the only thing I can think may be happening. We actually did some of our testing after deleting a shell, and things still worked....the building just looked weird.

BTW, thank you for all the info you have provided regarding RAM, etc. We have been using a RamDrive ever since we got our new PC, and it has made a world of difference being able to put the entire game into memory. I'd still actually pay for everything all over again if a 64-bit version of the game would ever happen...ARE YOU SEEING THIS EA?? Bet that would go over well, LOL

Hello, I'd like to report that the optional file for the Science Teacher fix has a weird side effect. For some reason, in brand new games, it cause all the premade Maxis Sims, in all the pre-made town to just vanish. No error or anything they just refuse to load. The lots are still there, all their furniture too, even their cars but the Sims themselves have completely disappeared. I've even check their houses in live mode and it says "No one lives here."

To add to Zuzman's report: Chain_Reaction over at NRaas.net points out that the instance number for the XML resource in that package is used by all worlds, so the science professor fix will always override every world's own setup if the package file is kept in the Mods folder.

I assume that the resource is only actually used the first time a world is created in a specific save file, so I'm guessing that you should be able to move the package file into the Mods folder after the main world has been created and before the first time you visit the University world. But it should not be kept there permanently.

Zuzman and letrax -- THANK YOU!
I've put a note so users will beware not to use the file until after starting a new world and before traveling to Uni the first time. Sorry this was overlooked on our end. I've also put USE AT YOUR OWN RISK in case people would rather not chance it. If anyone experiences anything else that you feel could be related to this, please post us a note.

Sorry for any issues this may have caused.

@AussomeDays

Just a quick question- if I overwrite the _XML file in the original Uni world itself, would this issue of missing sims persist?

Hi there,
Not sure if I'm understanding completely. If you're referring to the XML (0x0333406C-0x00000000-0xE51DF1C5C044A949) from the Uni .world package, overriding this one causes all the premade sims to not be there when you start a new game since the base game (and all expansion worlds) share the same resource # above. So starting a new game would use the override which of course has Uni info in it resulting in no sims for whatever home world you start.

I'm sure there's more to it, but we haven't had time to really delve into this. It's probably one of those things with no solution due to the way EA programming was done.

Is my answer completely out of the ballpark...lol?
