So this mod is outdated and needs a fix (same with the other one you have for the humming. They both prevent my mermaid sim from well being a mermaid in the water (they don't gain hydration in pools or oceans). And yes I have tested it with and without both of your mods, and without your mod, they swim around like mermaids just fine (even without the help of the other mod I installed)

Sorry for the long delay, haven't really touched the game in anything but some screwing around with stuff for a few months now. That and my login expired at some point and never got around to logging back in XD Anyways, I did some testing, using both my mods and them on their own and haven't encountered the issue you're having. Tested with one of my premade mermaids as well as their clean slate counter parts (thought maybe them lacking the athletic skill might cause something to happen where the swimming style is concerned), also tested using a regular sim that was changed into a mermaid and even my old Island Living save to see if it was something that only happens in older saves. Everything came back fine on my end. Asked a few people to also give the mods a look and everything checked out fine for them too.
The only thing that I can think of, since from the sounds of it you had other factors in during your testing, is that there's a conflict between my mods and either someone else's mod, or a piece of custom content. I know that the patch as well as the Island Living pack were listed as a "broke all the things" type release, so there's the chance that you have something that's managed to stay hidden up until you came across my mod. The only way to know for sure would be first to fully confirm on your end that things are working fine with my mod, by removing everything in your mods folder but my two mods, delete localthumbcache and do a test run (don't save, if you fear you may accidentally save upon exiting, make a copy of your saves folder and place it else where while you test). If things come back clean on your end (would also recommend testing with a brand new save if things don't return to normal to see if it only happens in that save), next step would be to 50/50. So slowly start adding back in your collection (remember to delete the localthumbcache file between tests) until the issue crops up again, then look into what ever batch of stuff you just added when the issue returned.
