Architect Donald Wexler was active in the 1950s and 1960s in Oasis Springs, oops, I mean Palm Springs. This is one of his pre-fabricated houses that he built with fellow architect Ric Harrison. This house is known as a "Wexler" and there are 7 of them. However, it was sponsored by U.S.Steel and built by the Alexander Construction Co. I have another Wexler coming along soon and I didn't want to confuse them.

This house looks really simple to us today but back then it was quite the departure from the norm. I grew up blocks from these homes and just looking at that roof makes me so happy.

I saw several people in the news thread wishing to know more about mid-century modern architecture so:
to see pictures of the actual home,
290 E.Simms Rd.
to learn more about Donald Wexler,
Wexler Steel House History
a comprehensive list of other Palm Springs mid-mod designers and homes,
Palm Springs Architects

You can also get this house on the gallery, originID still bubbajoe62.
